Why are most of the celebrities-turned-politicians Republican?
Ronald Reagan
Fred Thompson
Jim Bunning
Fred Grandy
Sonny Bono
George Murphy
Ahhnald
Jack Kemp

We get:

Bill Bradley
John Glenn
Ben Jones (Cooter from The Dukes of Hazzard on TV)
and Nancy "Miss Jane Hathaway" Kulp

Yet, for some reason, Republicans always make fun of Democratic celebrities who are politically invovled. Hypocrites.

1. Cause Dems are smart enough not to go there, but
opinionated enough to express themselves (and celebrities, who make more $$ than a politician ever thought about making?)
Just a guess. :)

6. Cause we are dealing with a society that impeaches
Bill Clinton for lying about a blow job....while little BushBoy lies everyday and especially on Mondays.

We also are the society that lyonizes Ronald Reagan as a Great President for something he did not do-Win the Cold War.

Let's put it this way...their media is better than our media.

11. Wealth, and no conscience. I have friends like that.
I have very wealthy friends who, so long as Bush keeps cutting their top 1% taxes and do not draft their kids, are just fine with whatever Bush does. Their kids will of course have to live in this world for many years to come. Actually, I had friends like that. Since last August, I have lost them. Long story. But it has to do with principles. Sometimes it hurts. But it's right.

12. They crave power. Democrats don't.
They just want to make a difference. Democratic celebrities like Martin Sheen, Barbara Streisand, Warren Beatty, et al know they can make a bigger difference where they are. They don't need a public office to do so.

believe Sonny Bono was a real repub. I really don't know much of where he stood, but maybe he was a repub for election convenience.

15. Because people with huge egoes go into politics and showbiz
The less ego-centric actors and performers stay in the field of their art. The egotists (borderline sociopaths, imho) just looking for power and attention often go from showbiz to politics. It's the natural step for them.
