Cynthia McKinney's record of self-aggrandizement
Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 10:44 PM by JohnLocke
"And during the 2000 presidential campaign, she wrote that "Gore's Negro tolerance level has never been too high. I've never known him to have more than one black person around him at any given time. Never mind that Gore's campaign manager was black."
----
"During a nasty 1996 congressional campaign with racial tension on both sides, she called supporters of her Republican opponent "holdovers from the Civil War days" and "a ragtag group of neo-Confederates." Never mind that her opponent was Jewish."
----
"And last fall, she tried to solicit money for black Americans from a Saudi prince who said U.S. policy in the Middle East was partly to blame for the Sept. 11 attacks, then she wrote in a Washington Post op-ed, "Why such a negative reaction to my letter? I believe that when it comes to major foreign policy issues, many prefer to have black people seen and not heard."

5. 1. It is indeed a fact that the black SS agents filed a
class action discrimination lawsuit against the Clinton/Gore administration -- tho I think it specifically named Gore.

2. I live in her district. I live and work around the most hateful racists on this earth. Racists can't be Jewish? And they can't be hold overs from the Civil War days?

I'm a little fuzzy on the last issue. I remember Rudy G. turned down those funds, and McKinney tried to solicit for them.

That aside, I see nothing wrong with her assertion. It is the truth. Many DO prefer to have blacks not seen and heard. The majority of them were horrified that FEMA paid hotel bills so that "lazy blacks could get free cable and room service".

Why in the world did you post this crap?

17. what little I could find
Three Black Secret Service agents recently filed a discrimination complaint against the agency, charging that the Secret Service blocks many Black agents from promotion to senior management positions.

The complaint, filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, alleged that Black agents, many of whom have served on the details that protect President Clinton and Vice President Al Gore, have suffered a pervasive pattern of discrimination involving performance evaluations, transfers, assignments, training, promotions and "a racially hostile work environment."

Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 11:17 PM by CatWoman
"Gore's Negro tolerance level has never been too high. I've never known him to have more than one black person around him at any given time.'

She didn't call him a racist, IMO.

The same can be said for any number of people.

I should go on record here and now to say that I adore Al Gore, and don't view him as a "racist".

18. I remember Gore..
Ignoring the pleas of black representatives on the floor begging for an investigation of voting fraud in Florida before appointing the Chimp to office. Begging for one single Senator to support them.

Did I imagine that?

I'm not calling him a racist. I'm just tellin' the truth.

21. It's a long story (told many times by Randi Rhodes, BTW), but Gore asked
that the SCOTUS ruling be upheld, mainly because of the makeup of the Senate — if it was held to a vote, there would be a 50-50 tie, with the President of the Senate casting the deciding vote. And who was the President of the Senate? VP Al Gore. He cared more about the country and the possibilities of tearing it apart than he did about his personal career. (And remember, this was when everyone just thought that Bush would be a lame, do-nothing one-termer.)

14. I believe McKinney was referring to John Mitnick
her 1996 opponent, who described himself at the following link as pro-choice and "independent." Do you have any reason to believe he's racist? Or for that matter, a "holdover from Civil War days"

it's some nasty smears - if she did say them, it's just the truth. I've noticed people are backing off pretty quickly when asked if McKinney really said these things. If she did, I think it's appropriate to point that out. I certainly didn't know this.

Now I'm just being annoying. You won't answer me, so I'll assume the answer is yes. If this poster is continually trashing McKinney, that isn't appropriate; but I think it's OK to criticize a Democrat - people certainly criticize Kerry, or Kennedy, etc. if they don't like some of their actions. We're not supposed to close our eyes to anything possibly negative that a Democrat does.

47. I've got one
I am educated about Rep. McKinney & am a fan of hers. She's been fighting the Bush Adm. hard since she got there & has grilled Rumsfeld & others about their various nefarious activities. She's been persuing the election fraud in Florida and connections between Bush & Bin Laden. She suspects Bush might have known about 9/11. Almost single-handedly, she's held hearings on the abuse of Africans by gold-mining corporations. She's a very dangerous character to the Bushies because she's smart, informed & doesn't back down. Maybe you need to get an education, since I haven't seen you list or say one fact about her. I don't doubt that the Bush Admin. is out to get her; which is why it bothers me when she gets into a tussle w/Capitol Police or says something off-the-wall. The right-wing doesn't need much to try to end her career.
