Now what about the folks who knew that Bush was lying about WMDs and the reasons for invading Iraq but failed to cooperate with authorities to prevent the deaths of over 3000 US military and tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians? Can they be arrested, charged, and sentenced to death? (Cheney, Rove, Feith, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell...). And what about Bush. He knew he was lying and did turn himself in.

I think Moussaoui is a big time talker. I don't think he really was all that involved. He's making himself out to be bigger than he is. He wants the death penalty so he can be some sort of martyr but he didn't participate in 9/11? Seems like he is doing this for his own vein reasons not for the cause, which leads me to believe that the Feds are grasping at straws on this one because they haven't convicted anyone important tied to this case and they need something, anything to save face for all the Patriot Act bullshit.

I think this is a guy who made contact with al-qaeda, no different than many others who had zero roles in 9/11, and tried to talk big to them to have a role. I don't think he was intricate to the planning, that he was supposed to fly a 5th plane, or that he even knew all that much.

Seems like the Bush Administration needs this guy badly now though... convict him and we can say we had success with the P-Act and martial law.

MSNBC VIDEO: Moussaoui wore 'stun belt' for new testimony

If you're looking for a reason why Zacarias Moussaoui suddenly testified today to a version of the 9/11 plotline that sounds more like the Official story than even the official Whitewash Commission report, this video may have the answer.

In it, NBC news reporter Pete Williams lets slip that Moussaoui is wearing a "Stun belt" underneath his clothing controlled by US Marshals. MSNBC host Dan Abrams gets some more details on the stun belt.

A taste of the exchange:

WILLIAMS: The old outbursts were gone... He was very docile today... We believe that he's wearing one of those stun belts, and it may be that he was very worried about doing anything that would cause those Marshals to press the button....

ABRAMS: A stun belt? They literally have something around his waist? That they can push a button and?

To quote 60 Minutes from Sept. 19, "Sources tell CBS News that the afternoon before the attack, alarm bells were sounding over unusual trading in the U.S. stock options market."

It is hard to believe that they missed:

- A jump in UAL put options 90 times (not 90 percent) above normal between Sept. 6 and Sept.10, and 285 times higher than average on the Thursday before the attack.

- A jump in American Airlines put options 60 times (not 60 percent) above normal on the day before the attacks.

- No similar trading occurred on any other airlines.

- Morgan Stanley saw, between Sept. 7 and Sept.10, an increase of 27 times (not 27 percent) in the purchase of put options on its shares. .

- Merrill-Lynch saw a jump of more than 12 times the normal level of put options in the four trading days before the attacks.

These trades were certainly noticed after the attacks.

12. On that same subject...

Not long after 9-11, I was doing a Google search for 9-11 related info when I tripped across a board for inside traders. They were chatting about how some of them had made a killing off 9-11 and that the first thing some of them did when they heard the breaking news was to jump in and make some quick trades that they knew would bring them in some $$$$$. I remember one Brit in particular was singularly loathesome. There were some objecting voices of digust, but others saw nothing wrong with what they were doing.

I remember posting a link to this vile exchange but I don't think the DU archives go back that far. You wouldn't have believed that conversation.
