Delay "People on my staff who I trusted who have disappointed me"

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/040406dntexdelay.8dc0e867.html

Mr. Abramoff, a close DeLay ally, has been cooperating with the Justice Department's public integrity unit, as have former DeLay press secretary Michael Scanlon and Mr. Rudy, the former deputy chief of staff. All have pleaded guilty to corruption-related charges, and sentencing is pending the outcome of the investigation.

"I regret having people on my staff who I trusted who have disappointed me," Mr. DeLay said.
<snip>

The Rudy plea deal upped the ante considerably: Court papers filed in connection with the aide's confession referred to Mr. DeLay for the first time in the federal investigation. And it put uncontroverted evidence of criminal activity in Mr. DeLay's suite of leadership offices. Mr. Rudy confessed to taking bribes in exchange for legislative favors while on the DeLay payroll.

Mr. Rudy also told the Justice Department that Mr. DeLay's former chief of staff and closest adviser, Edwin Buckham, had taken part in the conspiracy by arranging payments, trips and favors.

3. I have a feeling that there are a lot of GOP Congresscritters across
the country who are very pleased indeed that this day has come.

My guess is that Mr. DeLay made SEVERAL enemies over the last several years, and I bet those enemies will not miss Tom DeLay very much at all.

I love the fact that not only is he not running, he is LEAVING CONGRESS IN JUNE! Yee, haw!

WASHINGTON – His power diminished and his legal troubles mounting, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay unexpectedly announced Monday that he will quit Congress by mid-June.

7. Poor Emily Dumped For A Manicurist
I guess Mike liked having his nails done. I have a theory about Scanlon, and Rudy, and Safvavian, and any of the other "guys" working with Abramoff & Delay. These guys are in their late 30s now, when they began working with the assholes they were in their mid 20s. Mid fucking 20s and having positions like that? Hmmm maybe there are more male hoes than Gannon?

9. I heard she was a waitress...or could she multitask?
Well, now she'll be known as the young bride of prisoner #4645229-012!!!

With time off for good behavior, she might not be quite as old as Emily is now when he gets sprung from the can!

11. I'd rather he rotted in jail, and, to reduce the serious deficit
that he and his sordid ilk have visited upon us, they allowed people to visit the facility and for a small fee (which goes towards reducing our nation's debt), be permitted to point and jeer at him!

Rotten tomatoes, ya pay a surcharge!

10. That's a bad riff on The Godfather, Tommie.

And if you keep talking like that, Bugman, they'll get you whacked first.

About today's little announcement- I think Tom finally realized that Nancy Pelosi was seriously planning to put the paper thingies on his ears, stuff an apple in his piehole, and roast him on a spit next February or March. And she was going to have the power to do it.

I remember the days fondly when he thought he could diss Nancy or Ronnie Earle in public and get away with it. I knew he was going to pay for it. Pasting paper bags or making license plates, indeed.

Next up on Nancy's List, the Speaker Who Oinks. He's just not going to measure up to the fun and challenge that DeLay was, though.

15. Regardless of the level of scumbagdom they've decended to,
none that I've heard, have claimed their "persecution" and "victimhood" stems from being such good Christians, and that alone keeps them ethical light years ahead of the vermin from Sugarland

Geez, how could they ALL have gone so wrong with such a sterling example as Tom DeLay?

"During my time in Congress, I have always acted in an ethical manner within the rules of our body and the laws of our land."

- Tom DeLay in a letter informing fellow Republicans of his decision to step down from his leadership position. Jan. 07, 2006

18. Of course, Tommy Boy is innocent, right?
Its always someone else's fault with the Right, and with DeLay being a general in their fascist army, he cannot possibly be guilty of anything. Blame is always passed to someone below, who takes all the heat. Trying to get him to trial for his crimes has been one of the worst circuses in American legal history. From specially taken mugshots, to hand-picked judges, to unacceptable rhetoric in the media, DeLay has shamed himself and America.
