Bush has Swedish ancestry: research

US President George W. Bush has Swedish ancestry, the daily Svenska Dagbladet reported on Monday, quoting Swedish genealogists in the United States.

"George W. Bush and his family are extremely interested in this research. This represents their oldest known European roots," David Emmi of the Swedish Colonial Society told the newspaper.

Researchers traced Bush family ancestry through 10 generations to the 17th century, to a Maans Andersson, the society said.

Andersson is believed to have left Gothenburg, in southwestern Sweden, in October 1639, arriving in the colony of New Sweden in Delaware a few months later, according to the research.

My ancestors came to this country in the early 1900's. I sincerely hope there's no connection with the Bush family. UGH!!!

10. My thoughts, too. My mom and her family came over here in

the mid-1920's. That's about 400 years after *'s ancestors, so I'm pretty sure there can't be too much of a chance of tainted blood in my body. Whew!

12. well, I figure many of us with European descent

probably have some type of Scandinavian ancestry. If your ancestors came from Ireland, Scotland, France and even parts of Germany, you may have some Scandinavian ancestry because of the Vikings. They loved spreading their "love" around.:loveya: I have ancestry from Ireland, Scotland, Germany and France (the Normans--Norseman) that all trace back to those trading, raping, pillaging Vikings.

The Vikings made it to Russia early on, and even as far south as the Black Sea.

More recently Gustavus Adolphus and friends were busy sacking Poland and Germany in the 1600s - I'm sure they left a few descendents behind!
