DeLay Dropping Out - Money
Edited on Tue Apr-04-06 09:55 AM by sparosnare
I don't know the answer to this question - the money that DeLay has raised this far in his reelection campaign.....can he keep it and use in his lawsuit? If so, then I would say that's the main reason he won't run again. If he had chosen to run, DeLay would have exhausted his coffers this summer to combat a relentless campaign against him; he was behind in the polls anyway. There would have been nothing left and he probably would have lost anyway.

So if he gets to keep campaign contributions for personal use, I'd say that's the main reason he's gone.

1. Yes...
See this thread I started earlier: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=836422&mesg_id=836422

Unless the news reporters are wrong, then yes, Delay can use all that money he raised during the primaries to use for his legal fund. Pretty pathetic.

2. Thanks - didn't see your thread.
I suspected as much; the man is scum. Of course those who contributed to him think he's righteous anyway and won't have a problem with him using their money to defend his guilty butt. :eyes:

3. If that's true...
...then Delay and his supporters deserve each other. They got swindled, thinking they were going to fund a tough re-election for a guy they see as a "poor victim of the Democratic smear machine," and instead he just takes all that money and walks. If those that gave him money don't have a problem with that, then they deserved to get milked out of their money.
