Is DeLay really going to jail?
Edited on Tue Apr-04-06 01:38 PM by Rocknrule
I don't know much about him except he's a completely ethics-free scumbag and proud of it, so someone fill me in on this. I'd be happy of course to see him sent to a federal pound-me-in-the-ass penitentiary, but these days I've lost almost all hope that any Republican will face consequences for breaking the law.

1. If he is convicted of something, I think he will.

2. I don't see how he can avoid it, since he's the kingpin of the operation
He hasn't got anyone he can snitch on--except Bush, Rove, Condi, and Cheney of course...

4. Well there is the dirty election of 04
and he goes right into it w/ Abramoff, Ney, HAVA, and Diebold.

Because Mr. Earl has this check and that would be called money laundering.

Funny, Abramoff, Scooter, Rove, and all the other Repug tough guys are singing like birds.

3. I'm content to let Mr. Earle and the other attorneys work him over
from this point forward.

At my house now the champagne is flowing over the idea that The Hammer will no longer be in the halls of the U.S. Congress.

It is the people's Congress, the people's hall, and Tom Delay disgraced it.

5. Probably not...he will probably get a high paying lobbing job and
McKinney will go to jail on some minor charge...when corruption gets a foothold this is what happens...

6. Does it really matter?
Edited on Tue Apr-04-06 02:11 PM by Lexingtonian
He's already lost or is about to lose everything that really matters, whatever the courts 'n' such decide.

He's sort of a lesser, crappier, version of Nixon in the American lexicon now. No power, a record of crime, all his "accomplishments" in Congress are or will soon be reversed. (Except for the billions his bosses in Dallas looted and got into accounts in the Caymans.) If he gets put in the federal pen he'll be the object of Democratic derision, ridicule, and satire for generations. Did I mention that Democrats will be a national majority and his GOP coalition disintegrating as he is further exposed, and his enemies will barb and torture him as a cat does a wounded and dying mouse for as long as possible.... No long lonely walks on the beach of San Clemente for him. America hates a criminal who loses pathetically, and friggin' stomps him as a ritual.

His crowning Texas achievement, that 2003 U.S. House district gerrymander for his partners in stupidity and crime that was supposed to get him the Speaker job, looks to be overturned this year by, you guessed it, the efforts of his bete noirs Martin Frost and Nancy Pelosi. The moron hardliners he got into the Texas leg and oil patch stooges in the executive offices of the state are also flaming out. Soon the House That Tom Built will no longer exist in any shape or form.
