Poll question: How many TV channels do you get?
A couple weeks ago, I switched from digital expanded basic cable to basic only, losing around sixty channels but saving $50 a month. I'm not missing it AT ALL! (But I may change my tone the first time the Steelers are on ESPN in the fall.)

If cable news is pissing us off so much, not paying for it is one way to make our voices heard.

How many TV channels do you get, and are you happy with your choice?

1. TV? What's that. Haven't had reception in over 3 years now...Only rent
movies, and all the better for it.

18. Me too. Around here you need cable to get any stations at all...
And I'm not springing for cable.

Netflix is my weakness, tho.

4. TV channels
If we are ever allowed to go "a la carte" and just pay for the channels we want to receive, we'd get about 20-25 tops, and that includes local broadcast channels.

6. Well over 100 maybe 200 and very rarely anything worthwhile to watch.
When I overload on cable news I unwind by watching the Food Network.

8. I have satellite but rarely watch it.
I mainly watch it for sports (during baseball season), and my nightly dose of Daily Show / Colbert Report, and new episodes of South Park and Reno 911. I mainly watch only 2 - 3 channels on it.

9. I like the choices
I'm home quite a bit and feel overall for the cost, it isn't that bad. Yes the cost is close to $100 but that gives me all the premium channels plus high speed internet access. We have cut out quite a bit of other things in our life like eating out, buying magazines subscriptions, picking up coffee on the way to work, phone service extras etc... We don't go to the movies very much cause between the 8.00 per person and any snacks the night comes out to well over $25.00. I can watch all the movies I want, listen to music on the music channels, we have VOD so I'm not required to keep any appointment with the TV. If we go to the movies once a week over the course of a month that is well over $100. I probably watch about 12 movies a month, a few favorite series shows, the news, love the Nat'l Geo channel, the documentaries on history. I don't ever have to rent movies or return them. If you average the cost out it works out to a little over $3.00 a day. Less then a latte.

10. I get five or six for free, if I plug in the antenna
But that would only be during important sporting events and presidential debates.

17. Right. I have satellite with over 150 channels and just about
nothing worth watching, not even on the free Encore movie channels.
