12. That's the way to do it.
Milwaukee was supposed to be a slam dunk too - but the Common Council had to put it on the ballot, for November.

23. I voted today in Madison and it seemed that it was all about the war vote
I would say that out of the thirty people who were in line or voting, I'd bet that 95% were there to vote for the Yes vote to end the war...

2. That's the main reason I voted today.
There was only 3 school board members and 1 county board position on the ballot. All running uncontested.

6. same here
and because I was voting for the referendum I took some time to look into the school board races, which I don't normally do! Amazing so many are uncontested though.

27. Yay!
I just came home from the Madison Troops Home Now party with some of the WNPJ people who worked so hard on this. Overall its an excellent result- it has to be read in the light of the fact that many of the small towns in WI went for Bush in '04 and they are votng for troops home by the same margins now!

25. Fantastic. I hope Feingold starts calling for immediate withdraw.
Right now, on his website, he calls for "burden sharing"... multinational occupation. I am sure the Iraqis will be thrilled.

The message of these resolutions is "get out now". That is a clear message, and the one Americans and Iraqis want to hear.

28. President Bush & other politicians will reject the results...
They will say that no matter if the American people oppose the policy, no matter how many express their opposition to a policy based on lies and manipulation...

And no matter what the people of Iraq want!

There can be no "premature withdrawal" before the mission is accomplished!

We need to establish a beacon of demcracy and freedom in Iraq, even if we have to kill and torture every damn one of them!

33. Ah the wingnuts......
These two snips are wonderful.

"She was one of more than 24,300 voters in the state capital who gave 68 percent support to a referendum calling for the pullout."

"Supporters shouldn't be too pleased with the results, said John McAdams, an associate professor of political science at Marquette University. Victory margins in many of the liberal-leaning cities were lower than rates won by Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry in 2004, meaning swing voters haven't been swayed by anti-war sentiment, he said."

But Kerry only wone Dane County by 66/32 overall. This referendum got 68%. Is he suggesting the "official" 2004 result was incorrect?
