Republicans are instigating the McKinney/Cop debacle. Here's further proof
House to Vote on Praising McKinney Police By LAURIE KELLMAN,
Associated Press Writer
1 hour, 53 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - House Republicans, reacting to the confrontation last week between Rep. Cynthia McKinney and a Capitol Police officer she is accused of hitting, pressed for a resolution Tuesday to commend the police force for its professionalism.

Democratic leaders did not defend McKinney or her charge of racial profiling. "I don't think any of it justifies hitting a police officer," said House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California. "If it did happen I don't think it was justified."

Rep. Steny Hoyer (news, bio, voting record) of Maryland, the No. 2 Democrat in the House, said all lawmakers, staffers and visitors in the building have a responsibility to obey Capitol Police. "I think we all should cooperate fully," he said. Rep. Mel Watt, D-N.C., chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, had no comment, a spokesman said.

As a federal prosecutor considered whether to press assault or other charges against McKinney, Republicans were introducing their resolution.
"I don't think it's fair to attack the Capitol Police and I think it's time that we show our support for them," said Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., a sponsor of the measure. Ignoring a police officer's order to stop, or hitting one, "is never OK," McHenry said.

2. It feels like a mini-case of Terri Schiavo again.
The Democrats are gonna scatter to the wind and not touch the issue with a ten foot poll, and the Republicans are going to harp all over it until the horse is dead.

Give me a break. They are going to investigate? Investigate what?

Do you think maybe if they would get off of this stupid shit they might be able to ummmmm.....help New Orleans?

5. Sorry, I can't take any more of this type of news, I have to take a break.
This is "Change the subject" again, but McKinney is such an easy target, because she labels everything racism, so they pick on her.

Hey Cynthia, here's a clue, it's not always racism, some people are just mean A-holes or bullies.

They will use these Capitol cops as a roadblock to keep unwanted dems from the floor at key times, and on the flipside they will use them to protect the bribesters and more serious felonies that occur on the floor.

Damn the constitution , full speed ahead eh...and many here at du are just loving this... oh please worship, worship, WORSHIP the cop..oh they're so good, with their high school education, and their training at a GA,NM paramilitary bootcamp, just bow, we all need to be on our knees for these gods, they can't possibly be expected to know who the members of congress are or even their own mission statement... ohhh worship, and be blessed the congress can just be in their presence.

8. Exactly. Knee-jerk. Frightening.
I am ashamed of some of the posters/posts.

It's disgusting.

On the brighter side, SHOOTING someone in the FACE is just like saying "good morning"!

Cynthia should have shot the bastard - maybe he would have "appologized" too!

7. Are They Targeting Her Because Of Her Beliefs About 9/11?......
just curious if she is being targeted because of her feelings and accusations about 9/11. Are they trying to silence her?

Seems to me if somebody came up behind me and grabbed me - my first impulse would be to turn around and try and protect myself and maybe take a swing. Seems like a natural reaction. I don't think I would characterize what she did as an attack. Seems to me she was the one that was attacked and she did the natural thing of reacting to the person that came up behind her.

I would imagine a Congressperson or a celebrity might swing first and ask questions later. You never know who might be behind you.

10. Yes, I remember the JC Watts incident.
It was caught on tape since it was on the house floor. Watts grabbed the guy by the neck or collar. He was pretty uspet with what was going on. You didn't hear much about that and I'm guess it's because he was a republican.
