Ted Kennedy rips Bush a new one in new book
Give 'em hell Uncle Teddy!!!! :D

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2006/04/05/kennedy_book_blasts_bush_preventive_war/?p1=MEWell_Pos5

In a forthcoming book, Senator Edward M. Kennedy invokes the leadership of his brothers during the Cuban missile crisis to launch a sharp new attack on President Bush, declaring that Bush should have followed the example of President John F. Kennedy and his attorney general, Robert F. Kennedy, in forging a diplomatic resolution to the standoff with Saddam Hussein.

The Massachusetts Democrat writes that his brothers were right to resist advice urging them to launch a preemptive strike on Fidel Castro when missiles aimed at the United States were discovered in Cuba in 1962. They correctly argued that ''a first strike was inconsistent with American values," and would be a ''Pearl Harbor in reverse," he writes.

Kennedy writes that preemptive war may be justified to prevent ''an imminent attack on our country." But he puts the Iraq war in a different category that he calls ''preventive war," which he condemns. ''The premeditated nature of preventive attacks and preventive wars makes them anathema to well-established international principles against aggression," Kennedy writes in ''America Back on Track," which is scheduled to be released April 18.

Bush's decision to invade Iraq, Kennedy says, was an example of ''preventive war" -- attacking a nation to prevent it from developing the ability to threaten the United States. A similar manner of thinking led the Japanese to attack Pearl Harbor in 1941, he writes, since Japan was seeking to block the US military buildup in the Pacific. ''Preventive war is consistent with neither our values nor our national security," he writes. ''It gives other nations an excuse to violate fundamental principles of civilized international behavior, and the downward spiral we initiate could well engulf the whole planet."

Bastard didn't show up for the censure motion. I don't give a fuck about him or his book.

14. Frankly, I am overjoyed--we make up for a lousy governor with
a superb pair of Senators, and overall, a pretty strong legislative bench in the House.

7. Of all the people who should have been there..
... I'm willing to give Kennedy a pass on points earned.

His office said he had a prior engagement, and while I'm as aware as the next guy that excuses are not hard to find in Washington, I'm going to give this particalur senator the benefit of a doubt.

10. Did you feel that way when he stood against Alito when no other judiciary
committee Dem would lead a filibuster with him? Especially since it was Kennedy who took 95% of the bad, antiDem press throughout the hearings.

BTW - he was dealing with the immigration bill the day of the censure hearing.

15. Is that all it takes to turn on a good man who's been there for every
other issue, including an end to the war and the fillibuster.

That's just sad.

You GO, Uncle Teddy!

9. He's arguing on THEIR terms
Your husband comes home late after having been with his girlfriend, telling you he had to work late. You launch into a discussion about how he should stand up to his boss, spend more time with his family, cut down on stress, etc. All the while, he's gloating that you've bought the lie and gladly accepts the criticism -- for the truth is much worse.

How naive IS Ted Kennedy?! His whole argument is pointless. This isn't ripping Bush a new one. He's bought the lie, and Bush is gloating about it, IMO.

17. It's part of the Bush Doctrine
Preventive war is part of the PNAC global domination plan. It's what people believe to be the cornerstone of the new 9/11 foreign policy. It's damned important to talk about how horrible it is, not to mention that it just doesn't work.
