Why is it always a "Brutal Murder" on MSNBC and CNN?
Edited on Wed Apr-05-06 08:34 AM by antifaschits
Every time MSM notes that someone died an unnatural death, they call it brutal.

Are there NICE murders? are the PLEASANT rapes? Are the GENTLE hurricanes and tornados?

Has the professional discourse and literacy of the news media fallen to such lows that cliches must be used, lest they risk forcing the vaste mental wasteland of Americans to actually think for themselves? Or does the MSM feel that middle America is so dumb these days, that unless you punctuate events with these duplicative and useless descriptors, the sheeple might miss the point?

Some of the worst excesses always seem to follow stories of missing kids, missing blond bimbos, murdered 6 yr old beauty pagent stars and tornados.

Just when you think that things have hit the bottom, they get worse.

The MSM is now on a "miracle" kick.
The C-130 that crashed? It wasn't a robust design, a well-trained pilot taking the proper steps, the convenient presence of a wet, long grassy area. No, it had to be a MIRACLE that saved the people in the crash.
The tornados that swept through Tennessee? It wasn't years of archtectual work, standards and zoning requirements, better building materials, and the unpredictable path that all tornados take. No, it was a miracle that the church wasn't flattened.

CNN used the word miracle 12 times over three stories last night. I am frankly sick of it.

1. Everything good is a "miracle" to these idiots.
Kinda cheapens "miracles," doncha think? It's a freakin miracle when a kid finds his dog these days. God has lost her touch, or maybe she's just outsourcing miracle's to cheaper deities.

2. They are editoralising and I hate it. They say things like Pelosi Slams
Frist or Reid blasts Frist and it makes me sick. Let me determine if it is a slam or a blast.

I hate the MSM.

7. Yellow journalism has always been around.

Read newspapers from the ninteenth and early twentieth century -- they are full of overheated adjectives, especially when reporting on crimes. The sad thing is that they never got over it, and took it to new heights on TV. In fact, the newspapers have gotten much less hysterical, and now it's the Barbie & Ken newsmodels (and whatever boneheads write their copy) who've turned into adjective whores.

As to describing every dangerous occurrence where somebody *doesn't* get killed as a "miracle" -- that really does make me want to :puke:. Maybe it's the silly religiosity that pervades everything; maybe it's just a lazy reporter's shorthand for "Isn't it great that somebody survived this terrible accident." But it's totally stupid. I especially recall the miracle-flogging by the MSM last summer when an Air France airplane went off the runway at the Toronto airport and caught fire. Everyone was able to evacuate and there were no serious injuries, all due to the skill and professionalism of the crew and the EMTs. But nobody recognized that skill and professionalism, instead attributing it all to a freakin' "miracle." 'Scuse me, Ken and Barbie, if you see some dude walking across Lake Michigan in July you can talk about miracles; otherwise STFU.

8. Wait, I thought yesterday the tornados were "wrath of God" - did his
PR guy fax in a correction now?

"From a prepared statement we have been informed that yesterday's wrath of God was actually a miracle. Join Wolfe this afternoon at 3, 3:30, 4, 5 and 7 pm in the (breathless) Situation Room as he attempts to get to the bottom of this contreversay. Then at 8, stay tuned for Paula Zahn's special report - Did the Devil make Him do it? In other news, there is a missing dog off the coast of Labrador, standing by live is our CNN affiliate......."

11. OOO! OOO! Braking GNUS!
CBS evening news will HIRE A FEMALE to read script.
Wow!, I am so excited! This will be an incredible event!

Forget the 40 bodies found in Iraq. Forget the VP of Iraq demanding that the US leave. Forget rising tensions over iran with Russia, China, Pakistan and others.
Forget DeLay's resignation and probable indictment. Forget Massive flooding in california, just as the terminator predicted and whose demands for FEMA help were ignored by Chertoff. Forget real news. There's a cute blonde story instead!
