This hysteria is a republican wedge-its going to be used as a "tough on crime" theme and as an excuse to censor the internet. Don't fall victim to the hype, its easy to push people's buttons with the pedophilia hsyteria.

The ten commandments, In God We Trust on the currency, and gay marriage will also be rearing their ugly heads this fall. I weep for my party that we allow ourselves to be manipulated into engaging on these shit issues.

2. The pentagon has plans to co-opt the internet.

Corporations want to privatize the net. I suspect that many institutions will be profiling users for future jobs, whethter it be in the private sector or with the govt. Law enforcement agencies will no doubt be profiling users, as well. In fact, I feel reasonably sure that these things are ongoing. I have no proof, just a common sense approach to Big Brother.

As for the Pentagon, Rumsfeld has already announced his plans for the net.
