Republicans really suck at governing.
Really. This cannot be said enough. Look at what has happened in just 5 short years. The national debt has doubled. We're bogged down in an unnecessary war. There is corruption at every level. America has lost prestige around the world. Jobs are hemmorhaging off shore. Wages are down. Gas prices are up. The wealthy are doing OK. Everybody else, not so good.

1. Can't govern what you hate
Inherently, one will govern in a manner to destroy what one hates.

3. They hate government because
they hate the idea of WE THE PEOPLE being in control instead of them and their cronies. Republicans want less government for the same reason criminals want less cops on the street.

They govern badly on purpose so they can say: See how incompetent "government" is?

9. They don't want to govern.
They've said that themselves, they allegedly want smaller government (leaving aside the fact that this administration has given us anything but that). It makes me wonder; if the Republicans got the small government they claim to want so much, then it seems to me a lot of people in Washington would be out of work and there'd be no crony appointments to hand out.

So, Republicans can't govern and won't govern. What they do, and do well, is campaign. Since the day the Dumbass first took office they've never stopped campaigning, first for the 2004 election and now to keep his poll numbers up with the base. It's not so much that they've lost interest in governing, but rather that they were never interested in the first place.

11. You're So Right
they really really suck at it. Instead of any republican asking any democrat why they hate America if anything made any sense anymore ALL DEMOCRATS SHOULD ASK ALL REPUKES "Why Do You Hate America?"

13. Molly Ivins wrote a good piece about Republicans
and governance last September, or maybe I should say it was about GWB and governing:

"Some of you may have heard me observe a time or two -- going back to when George W. was still governor of Texas -- that the trouble with the guy is that while he is good at politics, he stinks at governance. It bores him, he's not interested, he thinks government is bad to begin with and everything would be done better if it were contracted out to corporations.

We can now safely assert that W. has stacked much of the federal government with people like himself. And what you get when you put people in charge of government who don't believe in government and who are not interested in running it well is... what happened after Hurricane Katrina.

Many a time in the past six years I have bit my tongue so I wouldn't annoy people with the always obnoxious observation, 'I told you so.' But, dammit it all to hell, I did tell you, and I've been telling you since 1994, and I am so sick of this man and everything he represents -- all the sleazy, smug, self-righteous graft and corruption and 'Christian' moralizing and cynicism and tax cuts for all his smug, rich buddies.

Next time I tell you someone from Texas should not be president of the United States, please pay attention."

I liked it so much I put the quote on my own website to remind me in case I ever forgot.

Democrats care about society as a whole. Republicans care about themselves. This "governing" of which we speak is a nuisance they have to put up with, but they don't know how to do it.

10. They aren't interested in governing..
... they are interested in using their positions to make the Federal Government their own private piggy bank and a piggy bank for their buddies, who incidentally will do them some financial favors for such access.

The current breed of Republicans arent' conservatives at all, they are con men.
