HARTFORD, Conn. -- President Bush arrived in Connecticut on Wednesday, a state where the Iraq war is extremely unpopular and only 31 percent of voters believe he is doing a good job.

3. A lot of people in Connecticut have REAL educations and hold

presidents accountable to higher standards than, say, a pseudocowboy with a walnut-sized brain who is embarrassing them at every turn of the road.

Bush at Yale just doesn't sit right with a lot of people. He didn't seem to take learning very seriously then and by extension he isn't taking public service very seriously now.

Touchy bunch, those Connecticut folks, and bless 'em all for it.

12. I love Connecticut

I got to visit for the first time last year, and went to New Haven and then up the western part of the state. Everyone I met was friendly, and the scenery was spectacular. And the Wandering Moose restaurant makes the best steak and onion soup I've ever eaten.

I came to visit in '97 and moved here the following year.The northeast is particularly beautiful.My one complaint,we have very little ethnic food.Oh,and Joe.I guess I have 2 complaints.

10. Interesting observation

In May, 2001, Bush was given an honorary degree at Yale, along with some others, including actor Sam Waterston, who was an Eli by grace of a scholarship, and who has worked to support his alma mater ever since. Sam was given a larger and louder ovation than Bush. But then Sam deserved his honorary degree, because he worked for his original one and helped Yale in years afterward.

14. There it is. I think the phoniness people perceive in Bush dates back

to college days, maybe even long before. Can't say for sure, but he doesn't resonate as an accomplished adult.
