Wisconsin referendum to end Iraq war gets White House notice
White House Responds to Wisconsin Troop Referendums
April 5, 2006, 02:29 PM

The White House responded Wednesday to the symbolic vote by thousands of Wisconsinites who weighed in on the war in Iraq. By margins overwhelming in some places and narrow in others, voters in 24 of 32 communities approved referendums Tuesday calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

White House press secretary Scott McClellan was asked about the referendum results. McClellan says all Americans want the troops to come home. But, he says most Americans also recognize the importance of succeeding in Iraq as well.

McClellan reiterated President Bush's stance, saying the worst thing America could do is withdraw before the mission is complete. He says that would be retreating, which is exactly what the terrorists want.

Local residents in Wisconsin gathered petition signatures to place the advisory question on the spring election ballot.

1. What precisely is that "mission" that needs to be completed, Scotty?
Hmm? What noble cause did all those children die for?

You'll know what we are fighting for when there's a darn good reason for you to know!

Operation
Iraq
Liberation

must succeed, or the terrorists will have won, because we're such pussies we're going "all in" on a sucker bet.

2. "..before the mission is complete.."
Yep, and that's the part we're all suspect about..
The REAL mission, not the fake winning-the-war-on-terror excuse.
The Haliburton mission?
The fortifucation of the Bush/BinLaden family New World Order mission?

I effing hate these people!

5. The rpigs usually cite a few reasons for going in top Iraq; "overthrow
Hussein, bring democracy, and WMD". But you nailed it on Halliburton as a reason. That's #2; #1 is the election in 2004. 3rd is Bechtel.

4. article: 24 Wisconsin Communities Vote for Iraq Pullout
Edited on Wed Apr-05-06 01:24 PM by bigtree
MILWAUKEE - Thousands of voters turned out in Wisconsin to offer a purely symbolic but heartfelt message: Bring the troops home from Iraq.

By margins overwhelming in some places and narrow in others, voters in 24 of 32 communities approved referendums Tuesday calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

Such measures have been passed by city councils and voters in other states, including Vermont, which served as a model for Wisconsin's effort, said Rachel Friedman, spokeswoman for the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice.

The group, which helped organize Tuesday's initiatives, is already looking at ways to take the referendums into more communities. Elected officials can't ignore the results, especially as the November election season looms, Friedman said.

"They have seven months to listen to us, to the voters and to do the right thing," she said. "The people have spoken. This is what democracy looks like."

6. Coalition of the people..
How will we clean up the debt and mess Bush's "mission" left us with?

How?
Can President Feingold negate all Bush's laws?
Can he step before the World and apoligize for what BushCo has done in the name of the United States?
How can it be made right again.

9. IF and I say again IF...
...there was a mission in Iraq, it would have been to get Saddam out of power, transport his bearded old ass to the Hague, drop him off, and come the hell home...

Then maybe "mission Accomplished" would have been an operative phrase.
