No snark please - what DID Bush campaign on in 2004 - school project
I am trying to help my daughter with a project about the 2004 campaign, and every time I google Bush 2004 campaign, I get parodies!! I was so disgusted with the fact that I had voted for that clown in 2000, that I couldn't even bear to listen to the fool in 2004, so I need to know:

What in the hell did he campaign on??? I know the following, and I know none of it is true, but these are the things he said:

War on Terror
Tax Cuts
War in Iraq - fight them over there, blah, blah, blah
Family Values - hating gays and abortions (ok, my snark)

Can anyone else remember what the little worm campaigned on?? Much appreciation for your help.

Oh, and could you help me with Kerry's platform also? I followed him more closely, but can't pull too many things out of my brain today. Thanks

1. Permanent tax cuts
for the rich. I wondered if the people voting for him realized that this would shift the tax burden down to those under 200,000 a year, permanently.

and also because DUers have more info than the average search engine.

And if you don't want to help, why don't you just mind your own business? Thanks!!

3. He'll keep you safe
That was another main theme. There hasn't been a terrorist attack on US soil since 2001, and he claimed credit for that. Rove also did an effective job of painting Kerry as being cowardly and dangerous. That, coupled with the abortion/gay marriage issue, was the main issue I heard about around here in Arkansas.

4. He campainged as not a democrat
He was strong on terror (war in Iraq)
He was steady and strong on his convictions (kerry got caught flip flopping).
He was working on Medicare reform cause we're going bankrupt (then gave us that crappy bill)
He was a man of morals (Kerry from the state where gay marriages are legal but Kerry didn't want them--double edged sword).
He provided tax cuts to all americans (I know it was only the rich but you asked his campaign, not his truth).

His campaign focused on scare tactics of "If a democrat were in the whitehouse your children will sprout horns"

Tax cuts for wealthy and corporations (caital gains and estate tax)

health care 'savings' accounts and his prescription drug plan

Since they are keeping gynocologist from "practicing their love."

I wonder how he going along on that?

DOH! That was snark, sorry.

Also for Kerry, I remember him campaigning on providing health care for all children. The rest seems to be cleaning up after Bush.

Let me finish!

Sorry, but what the Chimp said on the stump is mostly a blur now, save for his dreadful, fumbling, embarrassing-for-the-nation appearances in all three debates.

The Bush campaign was really done by proxy, via the Shit Floaters and other hit squads.

33. I remember that and how I thought for sure regular folks
like my friends and family would see how that was to completely protect corporations and screw all of us.

And they happily went to the voting booth and pulled the lever for their own disenfranchishment. One of the great swindles of all time.

39. I think part of it is still the perception given
to them. For example, most average people think a woman sued McDonald's because she accidentally spilled coffee all over herself. *sigh* long way to go.

31. Bush did go after "security moms"
I think one of the things the pundits were commenting on was how Bush retooled his strategy for going after the "soccer moms" in 2000 (by playing moderate, and claiming that he would improve things like health and education), by focusing on domestic security issues in 2004.

There should be plenty of news articles out there on this ... if your daughter has a particular interest in youth and women's issues, it might be an interesting angle to pursue. (I think the Kerry campaign got his daughters out on the campaign trail, demonstrating through personal stories how their dad was competent and able to provide security in a wider context ... I don't know how the final polling numbers may have been affected, though that might be something to check?)

34. Attacking a war veteran's record
Really - when you get right down to it, it was all the Swift Boat Veterans for "Truth". Bush's campaign had run out of steam so the only thing left to do was attack a war veteran's record while reports were surfacing that the asshole did not serve a day in the army.

40. He campaigned on fear. (/11 and the how the world "has changed" and
we need to give up our liberties via the Patriot Act...how forces in Iraq were a coalition and the need to "fix" social security.

Kerry campaigned on needing a definitive plan for Iraq, and acknowledging the mistake, the need to deal with the threat that is North Korea, Health Care, jobs and the economy.
