S. 1955 Pork Barrel Legislation for the Benefit of National Associations
The reality about Health Insurance Marketplace Modernization and Affordability Act (S. 1955) is that national associations, such as see list below, support it because they all want a piece of the health care premium flow. At the end of the day these organizations are not acting in the best interest of their consituents, but in the their own interests. It is all about money, isn't it always in Washington?
The local associations and local health plans oppose it because they'll be left out of the initiative. Sounds like a big land grab to me and another attempt to undermine the Federalist System.

Health care threatened for most needy
Ecerpt from: Health care threatened for most needy
Pam, is one of several people in Seattle and across the country who are trying to grab the lapels of every elected leader who will listen. They're sending letters to senators and asking that you do the same. They even had a "pleasant meeting" recently with U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert, R-Wash.
Why? Because of one of those pending bills packaged under a benign-sounding title.
The "Health Insurance Marketplace Modernization and Affordability Act" sounds like it will help more Americans get accessible health care coverage. But it actually would allow the health plans offered by small businesses to sidestep currently required health coverage in 46 states including ours. That's coverage that pays for diabetes treatment, testing and supplies like those $1 strips at Target.
In other words, the bill would strip such coverage currently mandated by law.
The bill already passed out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee known as HELP and is headed to the floor of the Senate for a vote.
( test strips are $1 apeice, 25 per container and each box has two to four containers. My son uses 350-400 per month: type 1 diabetics require frequent testing to maintain control.
