As usual, we had a good response to our call for moderators, and it was extremely difficult to narrow the field down. We had to turn down a number of very qualified people. We hope that everyone who applied to serve as a moderator this turn will consider applying again next term.

A moderator switch is always a little chaotic, so I want to apologize in advance for any problems that may arise over the next few days. Thank you for your understanding.

And for you retiring Mods... civilian life is okay. I hear they've developed "Alert Button Therapy" for people who are unable to give up the Mod habit. Hi,

Just checking in. I thought this was as good a place to start posting. I've read DU for a long time, but I've never registered until now.

I'm a Democrat, dyed in the wool, but not quite sure I could be called a progressive. If Bill Clinton’s politics are progressive, then count me as a progressive! This should be an interesting next two years in politics. I still have faith we, meaning anybody except those who support GWB and his administration, no matter what, can still turn things around for the better.

I hope I can find my way around here. It doesn't seem too difficult so far. I am just curious, though, if there is any way to view whole posts instead of just the first sentence in thread which are long- does anybody know? It's a little bit of a pain to have to click on each one individually. I'll admit it- I've only registered at 2 other forums and they are a lot smaller, so I’m not used to this format.
