Broncos QB frustrated by Pat Tillman inquiry

<snip>

After repeatedly speaking with Tillman's family in the months since, Plummer said he has grown increasingly frustrated about the family's search for answers surrounding Tillman's death.

The Pentagon announced earlier this year it was launching a criminal investigation into a shooting the Army had said, after two previous investigations, was an accidental, friendly fire shooting.

Plummer plans to contact NFL players _ he said he already has spoken with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsoe _ in each of the league's cities in hopes they will get in touch with members of Congress in those states to try to push for answers.

"It's just for his family after all they've been through," Plummer said. "They want to know; it's been two years. Seeing Pat's brother, talking to his parents, I've just been thinking a lot about that."

1. So will the NFL cease with all the jingoism now?
I doubt it.

Still, kudos to Jake.

2. Well I'm proud of ol' Jake...
It's well known that he and Pat were friends. Hate to say it but it takes high profile people to put heat on the powers that be. They get the press.

7. I indeed like Jake, and I hope he wakes up the rest of the NFL players.

4. with no disrespect to the loss suffered by the tillman family--how many
OTHER families may be going through something similar, without the high-profile names to help them?

5. Sadly that's true of any situation involving more than a couple of deaths.
Can you name two other people who died with Ron Brown in the plane accident?
The Government tried to paint Pat Tillman as the poster boy for Iraq. Now his death is their albatross.

6. I am sure that there are many...
...but I have a feeling that Jake Plummer would be doing this even if Tillman hadn't been an NFL player. They were college and pro teammates. They were good friends before all of this, so the fact that he played in the NFL doesn't have anything to do with it.

9. not being a sports fan, I had never heard of tillman until aftrer his deat
and just learned of the other one. No, it isn' about the nfl, and I didn't say it was--just the fact that these people seem to be very well known.

8. What you say is true, niyad
And those families are hurting just as much as the Tillman's, and want answers just as much. I am glad that someone high profile is stepping up to help the Tillman's. A good thing that may come out of it (and yes, it may be a long shot), is that if the Tillman's DO get some answers, it could open the door a little farther for the families of those we don't know about. One can hope.
