Look at her throat (and face) for God's sakes. Now, I have no problem that they airbrush a bit. But, that is really ridiculous.. The woman is 59 years old, for God's sakes.

My reaction isn't directed at LB--I think it is a slam to all women since it reinforces the ageist and sexist attitudes.

I may not like Laura Bush--especially if her classless comments about Hillary and the WH are true. But, she is a dignified middle age woman and should be portrayed as such, IMO.

Seriesly...this is not news. Look at the little pictures of your favorite columnists in your newspaper. They're all twenty years old and as flattering as possible. Look at any book jacket photo of any author. You don't do PR shots with pillow-marks on your face and bed-head. If the book was meant to be a critical expose, you can be sure the photo would be much more harsh, but it was meant for Laura's FANS, not us.

So, sure, I've bashed Laura in this thread, because I cannot stand her. But that doesn't mean I think there is really, honestly anything wrong with the book cover.

Who the hell wants to be on the cover of anything, particularly a woman, and look like an old hag? Most all celebrities don't look as good in person as they do in print. Heck, if LB had plastic surgery, people would hate her for that, too.

FWIW - Joan Crawford used to have her movie sets kept cold, diliberately, to shrink her pores on film. Joan Collins was filmed through pantyhose to reduce her wrinkles on Dynasty (soft lense). Let's not even get into the nips and tucks by most celebrities, because there's an abundance of "guilty".

There's a whole lot of reasons not to stand someone, but trying to look as good as possible on a book cover (so not to scare the children!) is hardly news for any celebrity.

Laura just happens to be the wife of the worst president in history. Hate her for that, not her wrinkles, or the fact she's had them airbrushed out.
