$12,000 Sensenbrenner Vacation Paid for by Lobbyist!
Bryan Kennedy blasted Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner today for a nearly $12,000 trip that Sensenbrenner and his wife took to Liechtenstein and Germany in February, with the tab picked up by the International Management and Development Institute. The Congressman has made the same trip several other times in years past. According to politicalmoneyline.com, Sensenbrenner has taken more money for travel than any other Congressman.

“Perhaps Sensenbrenner’s free vacations are the reason he is having such a hard time making up his mind on whether or not to weaken House ethics rules,” said Bryan Kennedy, who is campaigning to replace Sensenbrenner in Congress. Kennedy was referring to Sensenbrenner’s vote to weaken the ethics rules in 2005, and then his flip-flop to restore them several months later.

“Families in our district can’t get lobbyists to send them on $12,000 vacations every year, and realize that the only reason that lobbyists pay for Congressman Sensenbrenner’s trips is to buy his influence. This is another example of Sensenbrenner buying into the culture of corruption in Washington D.C.”

Kennedy is running to replace Jim Sensenbrenner in Wisconsin’s 5th Congressional District. The 5th Congressional District includes all of Ozaukee and Washington counties, and portions of Milwaukee, Jefferson and Waukesha counties.

Sensenbrenner has to pay for two seats when traveling.

2. This guy needs to go.
He never met a mandatory minimum drug sentence he didn't like.

He's all about punishment. He wants to make illegal immigration a felony.

Oh, sweet Jesus, if there really is justice on this earth, Sensenbrenner will go down.

3. Not a chance - I live in his district
Reddest of the red in Wisconsin. While his margins may shrink, he is an automatic shoo in. Kennedy is the first opponent in years - and he is young, so there is hope for the future when Senselessbrenner's obesity kills him. By then, I hope Bryan has enough name recognition from previous campaigns to take the seat. I will donate to him and do the yard sign bit, but am pessimistic.

As wrong as he is, Senselessbrenner, is very "clean" in comparison to the rest of the Repubnuts. Last year I checked to see if he had taken any money from Delay - just $20. Nevertheless I wrote a scathing letter to him for taking ANY at all. No respone of course. I think this junket will be easily "explained" by Jimmy, but I applaud Kennedy for raising the issue. Now if it involved hookers - that would be great.

Probably just visiting the family Kotex fortune in an unnumbered account in Lichtenstein or nearby Switzerland.

Perhaps scouting out European treatments for his wife, who I believe has MS. Met them once at a mutual friend's wedding. They sat alone - I tried to strike up a non-political conversation -- she seemed nice, he seemed excruciatingly uncomfortable in a social setting.

4. Some of us at DU are working on this race.
And with Sensenbrenner's help at shooting himself in the foot, Kennedy is going to be your next congressman. I wouldn't work on this race if I didn't think he could win. :-)
I am optimistic. :dem:
