I think he's scared spitless about the Plame thing. He could barely speak - and I mean more than usual. He's shook up big time over the Plame deal hitting the news. Anyone else see that?

5. Didn't see the footage but it wouldn't surprise me if he has good call
to be shaken.

The war is his mess. He ordered it, he eats it. I'm not piling on the man for the sport of watching him fail; I'm disheartened because his failure is a failure for the U.S.

I want outstanding relations with our allies and a president who visibly and vigorously respects the cultures of other peoples. This president has definitely NOT done that. I believe a President Gore or a President Kerry WOULD have done that.

And the stalwarts in the GOP let this little idiot do all this damage, and most of them cheerleaded him on and showed up night after night on FOX News to trumpet the "progress" in Iraq.

Shame on the whole lot of them.

14. Libby nails Bush
Most of the DU respondents are exercising caution while waiting for more confirmation. The WH has wiggled out of other serious crimes before, like wiretapping. All they have to do is to use the war authority defense, then Repugs and media argue and discuss until something else, like Katrina, takes the public's attention away and the heat off. That is the Rove scenario, the WH m.o. from the day they stole the election in '04.

Edited on Thu Apr-06-06 12:53 PM by chill_wind
on the significance of private counsel:

(....)

This action by Bush is a rather stunning and extraordinary development. The President of the United States is potentially hiring a private criminal defense lawyer. Unsurprisingly, the White House is doing all it can to bury the story, providing precious little detail or context for the President's action.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Bush explained his action by saying, "This is a criminal matter. It's a serious matter," but he gave no further specifics. White House officials, too, would not say exactly what prompted Bush to seek the outside advice, or whether he had been asked to appear before the grand jury.

Nonetheless, Bush's action, in itself, says a great deal. In this column, I will analyze what its implications may be.

(....)

A criminal matter, Bush admits, but CNN says presidents do it all the time. Heh.

(thanks for welcome :-)

Snippet:

"I've told our administration that we'll fully cooperate with their investigation" Bush said. "I want to know the truth. I'm willing to cooperate myself."

Bush's move suggests the president anticipates being questioned by prosecutors about whether he could shine any light on the case. But there is no indication that Bush is a target of the investigation.

"In terms of whether or not I need advice from counsel, this is a criminal matter, it's a serious matter," the president said.
"I have met with an attorney to determine whether or not I need his advice, and if I deem I need his advice, I'll probably hire him."

Either something interfered with the "transmission", or he forgot what day it was..

Monday = Con older folks out of their retirement money & make 'em like the idea
Tuesday = 'Splain how high energy prices are really a good thing
Wednesday = Remind the people how fabulous the economy is
Thursday= stir up shit to get people hating "other folks" even more than they do already

Poor guy.. maybe he thought it was Tuesday...after all..both days START with a T.

or

maybe he though immigration starts with an 'E' like energy and he got confused..

Poor little Prince Pissypants, he's feeling pressured...he must hate it.. ...

I'm lovin' it !

26. what mud ball hails lately from the WH?
dOES bUSH EVEN KNOW THAT HE DECLASSIFIED THE INFORMATION? are libby and cheney putting blame on him so as to get off scotch free? i mean, if a president can declassify information anytime he wants to and have something leaked not become a crime, then ... why didn't bush say so from the beginning.

either he is not an honorable man (which we all know that he is not)-- or libby and cheney are fingering him in an effort to get off whatever possibley charges may come against them.

I think he may sign any piece of paper that Cheney puts on his desk. He doesn't have the capability to know the consequences of what he's signing.

He barely has a grasp of current events beyond a "FAUX news" perspective and his lack of interest in details is infamous.

You really think he considered the myriad legal difficulties that declassifying this information would bring?

No way. He was told by someone, "Don't worry. It's all taken care of."
