There was a wonderful Gloria Steinem lecture on NPR last night.... |
|
... Was in Seattle about a month ago...
Anyone know where I could get a recording of it? Guess I'll go check the npr site....
Was an EXCELLENT talk - detailing how intricately women's reproductive freedom is tied to virtually every other kind of freedom. There were a few small things I'd quibble with her on, but they're small. A highly recommended listen.
She's quite funny too - she's now on my list of people-I'd-most-like-to-have-drinks-with, in fact.

1. BlooInBloo, you have superb taste in world-changers. |

And Ms. Steinem is certainly a world-changer.
I've heard her speak and she is exactly as you say she is. I don't have info on how to get that one speech you enjoyed, but the N.O.W. would probably be able to assist you in tracking it down. Maybe give them a buzz on the phone and see what they say. They're very well connected.
Also do not hesitate to call the local state offices of Senator Cantwell and Murray. Their staffs are likely to be able to point you to a source for the speech. (It may take a few days.)
A snarky male reporter once asked Gloria Steinmen is she were a lesbian.
Steinem's response: "I am if you're the alternative."

2. ROFL! Best. Comeback. Ever. |

NOW's a good idea - if npr doesn't have it, I'll look there.
thanks!
