My polisci professor called Bush's role in Plamegate a "bombshell."
Said he wasn't sure about the legality of it, but that it would dominate the news cycle for the next 2-3 weeks, at least, and that it posed a major political problem.

:woohoo:

1. He is totally correct.
We can bring them down with this. And we should do so NOW.

2. 2-3 weeks...
At the current rate, that's about 4 more major GOP scandals. Could be helpful to GOP congressional candidates to keep Chimpy in the line of fire.

9. Or unless we have another terra attack... too bad no more terror alerts
wonder whatever happened to the terror alert colors. Oh yeah, the election is over.

I'm not a MIHOP fan but hey, they've got to get this off the front page somehow. :tinfoilhat:

12. I have to tell you. Here in Colorado the McKinney thing hasn't really
gotten much play. I don't think even mainstream Freepers give a crap about it. I have definitely seen a shift in the meaningfulness of a small Democratic "scandal" versus the daily revelations about this lying, cheating stealing, treasonous White House staff.

I still see a few political drop outs but even in my red state anti bush t-shirts are visible in EVERY crowd and I never see anyone complain about them anymore.

5. He's right--even though Scooter is trying to scoot away from the matter
by claiming that he had the thumbs up, he is no better off than Martha Stewart. I think Scooter feels abandoned, and he's striking out in a fit of pique. This is a shot across the BushCo bow--give me a pardon, or I SING, SING, SING!

I really think that is the crux of it, more than Scooter's lawyers attempting to expand the scope of the investigation, and get bogged down in discovery (though that is part of the strategy, surely). Let's hope the judge sticks closely to the facts of this particular case--that Scooter lied to to Feds. Save the reasons why he lied for the sentencing hearing, as factors in mitigation!!!

The real problem with a pardon, though, is that the cure is as bad as the disease. Scooter gets a pardon, everyone assumes THE WORST. It's a no-win for BushCo. He could maybe toughen it out AFTER the NOV midterms, but this is a BAD time for Scooter to get panicky or shirty--it really hoses up the GOP game plans.

13. It's more than that.
Bush just walked the plank, with Captain Morgan pointing a sword at him.

They've dumped him. Just like they've done with Katherine Harris. I'm absolutely convinced this was deliberate.

They see their entire administration swirling in the toilet, and they've tried desperately to do something about it. They must have felt Bush was the biggest liability, because he's so stupid.

Bush was never a leader. He was nothing more than a storefront mannequin. And he did SUCH a lousy job of it. They're tired of his buffoonery.

Now it's scrambling time, as the rats are sitting on the railing of the sinking ship.....

16. yeah
I thought it was a bombshell until I researched the story and read 4 or 5 accounts... here's the summary:

The information did not name CIA agent Valerie Plame, whose 2003 exposure triggered an investigation that led to the indictment of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

So bushco leaked classified info to bolster their case on excuses (I mean justification) for war and then legally de-classified it... and that info leaked had NOTHING to do with PLAME???? Lotsa smoke but there ain't no FIRE.

21. not hardly
I'm EXTREMELY bummed by all this. I'm simply counting the hours til we're back in power. I'm just of the opinion that we shouldn't jump scream and yell with every gust of slightly good news.
If the kitchen smells of grits all day, by dinnertime you're not hungry, you know?

We simply need to concentrate on IRAQ which there is NO excuse for and 90% of the public acknowledge such... and more importantly present a better future. We need to go back to our roots, environment, peace, economy (it's OUR issue), ANTI_CORPORATE corruption and COMPASSION for the poor and disaffected...

Put General Clark up in 08 and the repugs are DONE. He speaks the "language" of the southern RED states and he has support from the base, he's the freekin' TERMINATOR candidate.

Feingold is a terrible option, Hillary is worse and Dean can't pull in any "red" states.

Warner from the (extremely) great state of Virginia is a nobody too, btw...

17. It's important, but I think it will be slow to boil.
Edited on Thu Apr-06-06 05:13 PM by Neil Lisst
MSM cannot comprehend until well after the blogosphere has examined this action for what it really means.

And what does it really mean?

It means, at a minimum, Bush (1) declassified classified materials, and (2) authorized Cheney to use Libby to get the story out, and (3) found out who Joe Wilson was, (4) targeted him and his wife, and then (5) led and participated in a massive White House cover up for two years.
