THE CONTENTS OF THE NIE ARE NOT THE ISSUE: BUSH COMMITTED TREASON
Remember the point to leaking ANY information was for one reason and one reason only. It was to discredit Joe Wilson, who spoke out because Bush used false intelligence, intelligence that BUSH KNEW was false in his State of the Union address (the 16 words).

The point of the leak was to QUIET ANY FURTHER WHISTLE-BLOWERS and CRITICS. Whether there is one leak or many, what the content of each leak was, DOES NOT MATTER. What matters is this:

Bush AUTHORIZED the ILLEGAL disclosure of classified intelligence to protect himself politically. And that, my fellow Americans, IS TREASON.

There is no way out of this for Bush except a Cowering Congress that refuses to HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE.

thereby revealing the identity of 100's if not 1000's of other covert ops. That's Treason too.

8. Huge now given those alleged 250 Ukrainian Nukes.
A. Q. Khan, all of which was her purview. I keep suspecting something rather more sinister in this thing. It doesn't seem plausible that in the Con's carefully manipulated scheme a petty act of retaliation such as this would be their undoing.

11. It may also have something to do with the 9-11 attack
which I am convinced was an inside job using weapons that only people on the inside could have access too. Also, the anthrax attack. All of this stuff is linked together somehow.

17. That particular strain of anthrax belonged to our military.
It almost certainly came from Ft. Dietrich. Each strain has a unique footprint, and it was a positive match for our highly guarded stuff.

18. Oh yeah, the whole anthrax thing is simply too strange
and it just went away. Which means they aren't telling us, just as with the Black boxes from the aircraft, no way that not a single one of the four survived. Im-fucking-possible, a term which I learned in the US Navy means Absolutely No Way.

25. According to this source, 3 "Black Boxes" found.
"Honorary firefighter Mike Bellone claims he was approached by unknown bureau agents a short time after he and his partner, Nicholas DeMasi, a retired New York firefighter, found three of the four “black boxes” among the WTC rubble before January 2002."

http://www.americanfreepress.net/html/black_box.html

It seems easy to verify. The names are there... not an anonymous source.

3. Thanks for pointing out what everyone on earth is missing.
He committed treason.

Exposing the identity of a CIA undercover operative and blowing the cover of the operative's network of associates around the world who are working on behalf of security of the United States rises to the level of "high crimes and misdemeanors". If it doesn't, then nothing does.

14. Problem: court doc does not indicate that Bush authorized Plame leak.
As H20Man noted in another thread, Fitz's filing says that in Sept 2003 Bush was unaware of the role Libby had played in the disclosure of Plame's CIA employment. (Page 27 of the pdf of Fitz's filing.)

7. Put in that light both Cheney and Bush are guilty of treason.
But I think half of the Republican party are guilty of conspiracy. Personally, I STILL don't think the traitors in control of our two houses are going to let this go to impeachment.

This story will have to remain in the spotlight long enough to overwhelm them at the polls. It is my opinion that several members of that party were involved in election fraud and they will do whatever it takes to continue to perpetrate that crime in the future.

I hope this country can recover from all this corruption but I even have my doubts about that. Even if Dem's take control in November AND take over the White House in 08' this country has a hell of an uphill battle ahead of it.

he sacrificed a woman's career, the safety of our nation by compromising anything related to wmds that she was working on AND the safety and most likely many lives of any agents with whom she had had direct contact.

Not to mention using the Niger story to start the war,a story that had been discredited many times and finally made public by Wilson in his efforts to show the sleeping Americans the lies this administration used to start an illegal war.

Intimidation, treason, cover ups,lies..jail time for sure and I hope somewhere in time they are made to pay for their war crimes as well.

May Bush,Chenet,Rumsfeld,Rice and the rest of the neocon traitorous bastards burn in a firy hell for all eternity with parched lips, red oozing eyes and no water anywhere to be had.

# noun: a crime that undermines the offender's government
# noun: disloyalty by virtue of subversive behavior
# noun: an act of deliberate betrayal

Looks like it meets all three criteria...

37. I agree, but...
I have a very strong memory that there was a story out there at one time about the NIE as I described it in my last post.

The use of Classified Material for political purposes is dastardly treason, plain and simple.

It would not make any difference, what the material is about (be it Plame, the number and location of nuke warheads, or any other sensitive true national security secrets). By revealing such info, you have given aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States.

only ever heard B*sh use it when talking about the leaks for the NSA Warrantless Spying program. You should start a thread with that quote as your title with links to copies of the Constitution and statements by B*sh on the NSA program it would be a good discussion, if you don't want to I may be able to put one together later today.

Peace! and thanks again

42. Article III. - The Judicial Branch , Section 3 - Treason
"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court."

Every American Citizen ought to read the whole thing at least once in their lifetime.

49. I've read it, but I'm not sure that it applies
If you accept the premise of the OP, which is that it doesn't matter whether the NIE referenced Plame (i.e., that it doesn't matter whether chimpy's authorization of leaks included authorizing the outing of Plame), I'm not sure what it is that chimpy did that fits the definition of treason, which the courts consistently have held is to be given a very narrow, very literal application.

Politically, this is great, but the point is to hone in on chimpy's duplicity in publicly condemning leaks while actually authorizing them and on the fact that the underlying reason for authrorizing the leak was essentially political. At this point, we fall into a trap if we elevate arguments about the technical legality (or whether or not it is "treason") above the simple politica message that chimpy can't be trusted to tell the truth and that he puts political objectives above all else.

onenote
