Radio comment about Wal Mart being attacked for selling Brokeback Mt.
Edited on Thu Apr-06-06 06:48 PM by The Backlash Cometh
I have to admit that sometimes the dingy dames on the shows are hilarious. Not often, but today one hit the spot. You almost have to put a slow country girl drawl to get the effect:

Radio guy: Did you know that Wal Mart is under attack? It's being attacked because they're selling the video, Brokeback Mountain and an organization says that it promotes the gay lifestyle. You know, Wal Mart is known as a conservative, family oriented corporation, and the group is afraid that it's selling out to make a buck.

Dingy Dame: Well, who isn't?

Game, set and match.

1. Is it a Wal-Mart thing, or an American thing?
The Wal-Marts in Canada sell it.

And you can't get any "sanitized" music CDs here, either. You want Eminem, complete with Parental Advisory logo? No problem.

3. Ang Lee's film might be the only thing on the shelves at WalMart
worth going there to buy.

Did WalMart ever stock THE GODFATHER film? Did anybody protest that such a film promoted murder, bootlegging, and tax evasion?

Canada seems to have it together in many ways. And your folk music is the best in the world.

4. I can't help but wonder...
... if money is not the reason Wal-Mart decided to sell this DVD.

They've been on an absolute mission lately to repair their image. I wonder if they haven't figured out that they lose more credibility than they gain by banning such material.

After all, the fundies are nothing more than a vocal minority, and money talks/bullshit walks.

5. The big point of all is that even the Christians sell out.
Nobody really takes an oath of poverty anymore.
