A Kerry call for withdrawal.... Damn Liberals
Half the names on the Vietnam Memorial wall were added after America's leaders knew our strategy would not work. It was immoral then and it would be immoral now to engage in the same delusion. You and I have to do everything in our power to stop that from happening again.

I believe that American combat troops should come home from Iraq in 2006 - not the distant future as President Bush does. Furthermore, I believe we must set a May 15th deadline for the Iraqis to form an effective unity government. And, if the Iraqi politicians choose to ignore that deadline, then I believe things will only get worse and we will have no choice but to withdraw immediately.

It’s not enough to express our convictions – we need to back up our beliefs with concrete actions. Today I introduced a resolution into the Senate that will give members of both parties the chance to tell the president that our course in Iraq must change.

I am setting tough deadlines for action in Iraq, and you know as well as I do how fiercely the extreme right wing will attack us. So I’m asking you today to be a citizen co-sponsor of this important resolution. Show the White House and my Senate colleagues a groundswell of support.

Sign up today as a citizen co-sponsor of my Senate resolution.

1. Presidential, incisive, big-pictured, long-termed, and necessary.
Kerry is a true leader. I signed that citizen co-sponsor reolution so fast it would make your head spin.

6. Hi to you, StephenB48. Hi to you, and a warm welcome to DU.
Very nice to bump into someone from a beautiful state like West Virginia.

I hope you are met with genuine welcome on these boards, and I hope to read your posts.

Welcome!

7. Thanks
And a big thank you to you, Old Crusoe. Yes, WV is indeed almost heaven, although I am a transplant,(from Florida), so I cant claim true hillbilly-hood, but have been here almost 30 of my 57 years.
Was delighted to find DU, a place which seems to hold dear all the things worth living for. The Repugs ( as they are referred to here (great name, BTW)) have had me sooooo depressed for so long now.
The false brand of Christianity they claim to represent is so patently bogus, I can only wonder how so many can fall for it.
I'm not a Bible scholar by any means, but I do recall reading in it somewhere that the Antichrist would be someone who would appear fair, and claim to have the ear of God or something like that, and this made me think of our peerless Leader.
If any of you on here ever get a chance, read WB Yeats poem, "The Second Coming", and you might see some scary parallels with the events occurring all around us today.
Again, thanks for the welcome.

9. Yeats' "Second Coming" as a harbinger of current times? Yikes,
I wish you were wrong but I think you're right.

(Tremendous poem, by the way. You hang out with some major poets, Stephen. Always a good sign.)

Bush as the AntiChrist? Works for me.

You hang in there, and welcome again to DU.

2. The republican talking heads have been throwing their hands up
and exclaiming "What's the Democrats plan?" "They don't have one".

Yes...We do
Maybe this will put an end to that annoying dodge.

8. I doubt it.
Much like Joseph Goebbels in Nazi Germany, they plan to keep repeating something not because it is true, but because people will eventually believe it to be true. They are propagandists, pure and simple, the truth doesn't matter to them.
