I am guessing this is it permanently for Karen Hughes...there's nothing she can do for this clown now---she never really could override Rove in 2001 anyway to try to make him look decent.

She should have just stayed home after the first "leaving."

Snotty Scotty won't be able to take the heat at all---he's probably outta here.....Ari is probably sitting at home with his wife in front of the telly having a cocktail, and relieved as hell that he bailed when he did.

Who else is going to bail on him? I don't think it will be a cabinet member...

2. See, I am thinking about three days...a week, tops.
I think he wants out...and I damn sure can't think of anyone other than Gannon who wants that job from hell.

7. Scottie doesn't count
The scuttlebutt is that he's already gone.

Now, who's NEXT after that?

Karl maybe? He should be up for membership in a retirement for retiring Bushies.

3. My money, if I had any, would be on Scotty
because unless he's a total psychopath, he's downing Maalox by the quart. He knows he's been lied to and played for a sucker by the boys in the inner circle and it's got to be having an effect on him, especially on his digestive and cardiovascular systems.

Of course, there are probably a few dozen flunkies we have never heard of in the same boat, illusions shattered and no lobbying jobs opening up just yet.

4. If they could find someone to replace Snow, it would be him
but for more than a year there have been stories that bushco has been trying to get a replacement... but that NOONE of stature would take the job. Guess that a lot of folks don't want their career to be saddled with the rep of having helped bankrupt the country and potentially put the country into a great depression type scenario.

12. very interesting indeed.
as will the after math when replacements keep being chosen based on previous poltical campaign contributions/ or work on political campaigns. Aren't those HLS stories interesting... Seems like they don't even bother vetting their mid level appointments anymore - beyond GOP loyalty (campaign contributions or political work.)

8. I think that's coming
I think they have to choose a suitable lying replacement. Frist didn't turn out to be the golden boy they envisioned; and Guiliani is probably too smarmy for anyone to deal with other than a photo op.

14. Cheney just finished that new mansion in virginia. He knew.
He was ready. Time to retire, a nice helecopter ride from all the D.C. corporatists and their hunting parties. So many pretty faces, so little time.

13. Chertoff
He should, at least. He's one CBS "60 Minutes" story away from being exposed as the worst FEMA director that ever was or could be.

Stupid me.

But he was ultimately responsible, as FEMA was one of his departments.
