Peggy Noonan: the flowers from the Iraqis will be thrown eventually
http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/?id=110008191

<snip>

The first is optimistic. Our troops in Iraq are the best of us: brave young men and women willing to put themselves in harm's way for their country. But they are by and large something else: very good, and kind, and generous human beings. Every day for three years they have, as part of their mission and in their off hours, been interacting with Iraqi kids and young people. Those kids, those young people, having been exposed to who Americans are--their kindness, their helpfulness, their humor and good nature--will never forget it.

<snip>

We will find, down the road, that many in Iraq will hold affection and respect for America because of the Americans they met and came to know in our armed forces in the first years of the 21st century. And this will have implications, and they will not be unhappy.

6. She is such a deluded Pollyanna
She's a scary woman. Everytime I see her on television, she appears to be on drugs -- intoxicated with on her own delusions.

7. Two NG's recently returned suggest just the opposite
They said they our attacks and home searches are seen as showing disrespect for the Iraqis. Waking their women up in the middle of the night and forcing them to reveal themselves to Americans when they are less than completely dressed is abhorred.

Yes, we have great troops there for the most part, but W's policies are resented.

Old Peg is trying to regain her glory of being a Reagan speech writer.

11. Peggy Noonan vs. Reality

http://www.itv.com/news/index_1460729.html

Ten-year-old Iman Walid lost seven members of her family in an attack by American marines last November. The interview with Iman was filmed exclusively for ITV News by Ali Hamdani,our Iraqi video diarist.

If Iman's story is true - and it has been disputed by the US military - human rights workers say it is the worst massacre of civilians by US troops in the country.

Iman tells of screaming soldiers entering her house in the Iraqi town of Haditha spraying bullets in every direction.

Fifteen people in all were killed, including her parents and grandparents. Her account has been corroborated by other eyewitnesses who say it was a revenge attack after a roadside bomb killed a marine.

8. Needs to do research
about occupied nations. No one likes the "good soldiers" that much that they wouldn't prefer to see their backside. And in our particular case there simply is no balance in the favor of the good impression. People will treasure the kindness of good people whatever the circumstances. It has nothing to do with the failed mission, the elan of the Armed Forces, or the betrayed democratic myths exported so arrogantly. In the sorrow this is the exception and not the rule and never will translate into a heritage of gratitude or honor.

If the real war for the America that proposed itself as having universal ideals is ever won the larger perspective will be tears not flowers, healing, not glory.

We are all occupied. Gratitude to those responsible is postponed until hell freezes over, preferably containing those perps forever locked in the icy depths. You can take your falsely sentimental journey to a blighted future and shove it.

12. Not on her grave. Definitely NOT on her grave.
She is too chickenshit to actually write an impactful opinion because she would have to write from the perspective of shoes she dares NOT walk.

SPOILED BITCH!!!!

Take your spoiled, elitist ass to the homes of those INNOCENT Iraqi men and women and children for a full year and LIVE THAT LIFE before you offer an "opinion" about something you don't know jack shit about.

CHEAP BRAT!!!!

Try being FORCED against your will into a life you never asked for.

You haven't a fucking clue,....and your opinion is WORTHLESS.

And put your ass on the line, if you think that way. Otherwise you're a simpering coward.

Peggy is more vile than Coulter. Her opinion columns on Kerry, Dean, Edwards, and Clark in the lead up to the election were such crazy hateful spew.
But I left her this anyway cause I really loathe this woman!:
>>>
Ms Noonan,
Your spin on Iraq is disgusting. Do you really believe what you write. The mistakes made, lives lost, money spent, and money made will forever taint America. Rumsfeld should resign and the neocons should be tossed out of the country and the most responsibility Bush should have is a baseball team. You just can't spin the lies and mistakes made. History will not white wash this huge of a tragedy.

21. If I had known that she was going to be this delusional, I would
have put her out of her misery back in high school. I remember one particular day at the back of the Rutherford Senior High School auditorium when I could have crippled her...too bad I wasn't as hostile a person as I am today!!
