Hero or Rove Plant ? Info on Harry Taylor
http://www.fayettevillenc.com/local/article_ap?id=83304

he Associated Press
CHARLOTTE, N.C.

It was a moment brought to you by the First Amendment.

Minutes after finishing a face-to-face verbal assault on President Bush, Harry Taylor was talking about the experience with reporters who covered the president's visit Thursday to Charlotte.

Speaking from the balcony of a theater at Central Piedmont Community College, the 61-year-old commercial real estate broker had laced into Bush for his conduct of the war on terror, his environmental record and his opposition to legalized abortion.

"In my lifetime, I have never felt more ashamed of my leadership in Washington," Taylor told the president. "And I would hope from time to time that you have the humility and grace to be ashamed of yourself."

Afterward, Taylor was approached by Barry Richards, a 42-year-old town manager from nearby Cabarrus County. Richards shook Taylor's hand and told him how glad he was that Taylor had spoken.

1. more info from NY Times

"While I listen to you talk about freedom, I see you assert your right to tap my telephone, to arrest me and hold me without charges," said a man who later identified himself as Harry Taylor, a 61-year-old commercial real estate broker. Mr. Taylor also said he was a member of the liberal political group Move On, but attended the speech on his own behalf.

15. Kos linked to a Thank You Harry site.
I tried to sign and leave comments but got message that I couldn't "Change Headers"???? Didn't try to change headers or use any HTML,when I tried to send it again, got message "You already said that"???

Oh Well, maybe other DUers will have more luck and there are 1301 interesting comments and the Kos article said they hoped to have 1 million Americans thanking Harry for standing up and speaking the truth to Bush which takes a lot of courage these days.

2. Been wondering ...

I irritated myself by my initial gut reaction: "This was allowed so it could be used as an example of Bush being open, a normal guy, someone you can disagree with and still get along ..." I don't want to think that, but I haven't been able to help it.

The comment in that article from the guy who thanked him for saying what he said only makes me more suspicious.

4. this came right after the snippet I posted, fwiw

Then came the punchline.

"I 100 percent disagree with everything you said, but I'm glad you said it," Richards said.

3. Probably not a Rove plant
But I'd bet the president's people knew about him prior to inviting him to the event -- thanks to the NSA's illegal spying. They probably knew he would ask a critical question without "throwing bombs" -- making Bush appear that he's not afraid of his adversaries.

5. Probably on the mark ...

I suspect *he* was genuine but that he was allowed to speak for a specific purpose.

6. Rove plant?
People, move on. Here's a snippet from a conversation three of my students had over OJ Simpson 14 years ago.

A: "I don't think he did it."
B: "I think he did it."
C: "I don't think he did it, but I think he know who did it."

Get the point?

Look, NEWSFLASH: Not everybody in North Carolina is a bushbot! Nor, by extention, a Rove plant.

This guy, obviously for his own motivations, somehow got himself into the meeting where he was able to let loose on Dubya. You know what I say about that?

:applause: :applause: :applause: Way to go Harry Taylor! Good on ya fellow Tarheel! :D

And you know what? It's all the sweeter that it was is Charlotte, supposedly the bastion of the new conservative South. Hee Hee. I know differently about Charlotte because I lived there for five years. There are wonderful, dedicated, hard-working Democrats and liberals of all stripes in Mecklenburg County. Remember the older woman who confronted Ann Coulter at the Dem convention in 2004? That was Pat Patten, Secretary of Meck Democrats, and a all around terrific person!

So those of you saying that this couldn't possibly be what it looks like it is, that someone finally made the egg stick to *'s face, (IN THE SOUTH, NO LESS) well, you can just stuff it!
