China Has US Anti-Missile Tech, Via Transfer from Israel
China has developed its own version of the Patriot anti-missile system, according to a Chinese-owned Hong Kong newspaper.

The ground-to-air guided missile system is part of China's air shield that is similar to U.S. Patriot missiles, the March 29 Wen Wei Po reported.

China covertly obtained Patriot anti-missile system technology from Israel during the 1990s, according to U.S. officials.

U.S. intelligence agencies discovered the Israel-China Patriot technology transfer in March 1993.

And don't you EVEN think of saying a bad word about them! Their unique position in the world makes it OK for them to do this sort of thing to us.

8. 1993 system did not work - missed every scud fire in 50 tries.
We do a good job screwing other nations. I wonder how "covertly" China needed to be in order to obtained bad technology.

10. Doesn't matter, even if it's true. The system doesn't work.
The Patriot batteries have never once so much as put a dent in a single missile.

It's great for shooting down fighter planes, but China already has a system for that.

14. That hardly justifies it.
Effective or not, selling it to China was hardly what we gave it to them for. Or perhaps it was...

16. China is our ally, too. Besides, this is unlikely to be true
We never "gave" Israel Patriot batteries.

We placed them in Israel where they were operated by our own armed forces.

15. Here's another story from the same source...
Palestinian security posts in Gaza doing nothing to stop rockets

TEL AVIV — Israel's military has concluded that the Palestinian Authority has facilitated insurgency missile strikes from the Gaza Strip. Israeli military sources said PA security forces have allowed insurgency gunners to fire missiles and rockets from the northern Gaza Strip into Israel. They said the gunners fired Kassam-class, short-range missiles a stone's throw away from PA bases and posts.

17. And your point is?
I was under the impression we were discussing Israel compromising US anti-missile technology. Your attempts to deflect it by a. claiming it was ineffective and b. stating we never transferred it to Israel do not hold water. This attempt to change the subject will not suffice either, I am afraid.

19. Yay, so the Chinese can now shoot down our missles too,
But only if they have a tracking device attached to them that allows the Patriot missles to zero in on them:eyes:
