I Asked My Right Wing GM Yesterday Why HE SUPPORTS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
he was frothing at the mouth. he wants to build fences around the country. he is a "shoot first ask questions later" kind of guy (but fairly intelligent - go figure).

in fact i kinda like him on a professional level. but i digress.....

he was red-faced FURIOUS about the "illegals" yesterday. so i CALMLY asked him the following:

Me: "**** are you a paying member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce?"

Him: "Have been for years."

Me: "And you support the work of the Chamber?"

Him: "Of course."

Me: "And you are pissed off about illegal immigration?"

Him: "&$^#%@$&#&#@" (more red-faced ranting)

Me: "Well, since the Chamber of Commerce petitioned pResident Bush for an amnesty program, WHY DO YOU SUPPORT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION?"

*crickets* as he sat open-mouthed

2. What I find amusing
is how in all of this "discussion" on immigrants coming to the US illegally to find work is why none of the "fence builder" types seem to get upset at the businesses giving jobs to these folks.
Forget building a fence and paying border patrol.
Just fine anyone hiring an undocumented worker $100,000 per worker and give 'em a year and a day jail time for each undocumented worker, and boy howdy if laws act as a deterent(which we *know* it does for "right-minded, law-abiding patriots", right? lol) then those pesky "illegals" won't be enticed over the border.

And is it just me who thinks that putting out a fire entails throwing water on the *source* rather than fanning the flames?

::disgusted over this whole issue::

4. Hilarious!
I had a similar discussion recently with my sister-in-law (she listens to Rush Limbaugh). Her head practically exploded!

6. Another point to ask him
How much would building the fence cost?

Where will that money come from? (taxes - see New Orleans when it comes to private industry protecting an area where they have their stuff . . .)

Who would build the fence? Illegal immigrants? Apparently, Repukes wouldn't want to pay a living wage nor give benefits to all the people that will be employed in building the fence . . . so who would do the work?

Who's going to maintain the fence? See previous point . . .

Who's going to stand guard? See previous points . . .
