A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Releasing Secret Information
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 07:09 AM by Montagnard
One thing being over looked in the story of Bush’s release of secret information is that the NIE released is the one that contains the information that Bush WAS informed that there was disagreement among the intelligence community over the Iraqi aluminum tubes. You do remember the aluminum tubes that were cited as the Casus Belli for going to war with Iraq. Well, that NIE is the one where Bush was told that the intelligence agencies of the State Department and the Atomic Energy said the tubes could not be used for a nuclear bomb. Even with that knowledge Bush went on to cite the tubes in his State of the Union just prior to war. Later on, his chief apologist, C. Rice stated, Bush was unaware of any disagreement over the tubes prior to his speech.

They cannot even lie good! Just one more day in the land of Supreme Incompetence.

1. And the NIE that mentioned a foreign power seeking yellowcake in Niger.
It's makes it pretty damn obvious that this NIE directly relates to Joe Wilson and, to Mrs. Wilson.

Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff has testified that President Bush authorized him to disclose the contents of a highly classified intelligence assessment to the media to defend the Bush administration's decision to go to war with Iraq, according to papers filed in federal court on Wednesday by Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor in the CIA leak case.

4. Further reason for impeachment
It proves that Bush is not capable of running this country.

It proves that he is a liar and cannot be trusted.

IMPEACH - PROSECUTE - INCARCERATE!

5. It's not "incompetence." It's highly-competent criminality.

10. I was impressed to hear Claire Shipman on ABC mention this morning
that they only leaked information from the report that supported their case, even though the report also contained information that did not support their arguments.

But then I was disgusted again when they discussed whether or not the president had the authorization to release classifed information and nobody pointed out that we've been through 3 years of investigation to find the leaker and had promises from the president to fire the leaker. Kind of hard to back up and claim it was a legal, authorized release all along.
