campaign? I saw a news report last night that said they may be joining forces in '08 and my jaw dropped! WTF? Now he's pandering to the RW wacko nut jobs? What else will this man do to get elected?

In his zigging and zagging, he missed a beat and has, in one go, managed to alienate a small, but hopefully mighty, chunk of his moderate repugnant party goose steppers. These were essential forces in his calculations and many have some strong disagreements with the direction the mob bosses have established.
That being said, however, another part of his calculations is the fact that repugnants have defective long term memories and there is a lot of time between summer 2006 and November 2008. He has lots of time to whore himself out to the gang in question and endear himself to them again, so the net, overall effect will be positive--he has turned the crank and this will gain him some votes.

5. I think McCain has lost his chance to get the Pub nomination.

Kissing up to the fundies NOW won't help him with them. They have a very long memory and I'm sure won't forget the things he said during his 2000 campaign. To make matters worse for him, he has lost the Independants and moderate Dems that he had back then, because of his antics with Shrub!

Too bad the Mcain we saw in 2000 wasn't the real one!

Remember the eighties, 1987, I think, Falwell was caught with his hand in the till and his mixmaster in someone not his wife. After the customary denials and the usual attempt at indicting his accusers, he did a tearful mea culpa and was right back in command, stealing money and screwing everybody.
He forgave himself and immediately assumed his rightful pose, looking down his nose and sitting at the right hand of God, condemning all who would disagree with him. His 700 club will assure John the puta of, at a guess, a million votes.
