Bush Leak Made KC Star Headlines This Morning
Boy that was a huge shock. Huge Black Letters.

My stomach just sank. As much as I don't like this administration I am afraid that if the whole thing collapses it will be terrible for the whole country and for the economy.

These recent headlines are going to kill this adm. The ones this week on how much the tax cuts have helped the extremely wealthy. All of the bad war stuff. And now this.

Credibility? Gone.

So where do we go from here? Is it even possible to fix this mess?

1. Well, we can follow the NIXON MODEL

The RESULT?? Power shifts to a Democratic Congress after the 06 elections. Whoever occupies the WH has veto power through the 08 general elections, nothing more.

Not much gets done, but not much gets screwed up any worse than it is presently.

3. We need to stop Bush and his people! They will not stop
unless someone stops them. I am just amazed at how bold those guys are. You would think that now that their poll ratings are in the can that they would hold off on some of these really awful things - like the total destruction of govt. lands. But they don't even blink.

8. Stop doing awful things!
I agree with you. One would think this admin would stop doing what they've been doing but Noooo!

I think they will step up their mission to destroy the federal government, and trust me thats been their mission all along. And as the noose tightens, and time and scandals loom this admin and the GOP in general, meaning the republican run house and senate will start pushing legislation to finish off the federal government. " Drown it in a bath tub"

I'm not sure that our federal government can ever be stood up again, after eight years of GOP control it's going to be very difficult for the next president to correct and void all the bad policies thats been put into place by Bu$h.

IMHO, our party would have to have the same control the GOP has had for the past eight years. I hope the american people see this as well, and gets to the polls starting in November 06.

10. We will have to put things right when this is over.
after eight years of GOP control it's going to be very difficult for the next president to correct and void all the bad policies thats been put into place by Bu$h.

But wouldn't it be great to have someone at least be trying? To have the right-track number above 50%, maybe way above? That's the America I used to know.

11. "Someone trying" Yes indeed it would,
it would be wonderful to have the same government we had say in the Clinton presidency, and we'll have to find those people and get them elected.

But let's get a Dem controlled house an senate first, the we can discuss the 08 election. But i agree with you, it would be great to have the country back on the right track with over 50% approval. That would mean the country was uniting, and that what we need a United Sates of America

4. No. It is very balanced.
You can tell because both the right wing and left wing acuse them of being partisan.

I read it every day and I think they make a real effort to keep their coverage very balanced.

9. NAY!
While the Star periodically LOOKS balanced, just gaze upon the editorial pages to see the soul of the STAR. Despite the presence of the syndicated Molly Ivans (I LOVE YOU), and two or so weekly columns of several local liberals, the brunt of the editorial page is filled with conservitive editorial material and cartoons.

There has been a conservative shift in the choice of editorial cartoons in the last year or so, with less liberal tooners and more michael Ramirez, etc.

The Star has always been pro business, hell, untill a week or too ago it was just another knight rider paper, which says enough about the Star's 'balance'. And recently the star has gone WAAAAAAYYYY out of it's way to try to stomp on the liberal, alternative press in town.
Yep, follow the Repug business model. No survivors, save yourself.

For a true measure of the Star's nature observe the different "neighborhood" sections. In addition, have you noticed the difference between the editions distributed in the very red Johnson Co. Ks. and the blue Inner city?

Thanks for your time, despite disagreing with you, I appriciate your opinion.

Flavin

PS as a former Star employee, the paper was nicknamed "the Facist rag" by even the folk who worked there. It's a shame, the Star, in it's day was a fine local owned paper....

6. But the corruption seems to be the whole government
I can't remember it every being this bad or this pervasive. But maybe my memory is falty. We have had other crooked adm. even back before Nixon and we have survived - and gotten stronger.
