Oh barf! Wingnut Patricia HEATON to replace VIEIRA?

'VIEW' EYES 'RAYMOND' STAR

.... Insiders say "Everybody Loves Raymond" star Patricia Heaton will step in for Vieira. And to help boost viewership among Latinos, the young, Argentine-born Marianela Pereyra, a veejay on Fuse TV, will be added - perhaps booting the hapless Elizabeth Hassleback.

"Patty Heaton is a Republican, so they won't need Elizabeth any more," said our insider. "And Elizabeth doesn't really add much. Marianela will bring in the young Latina viewers - which is important," said one source.

Heaton and Pereyra were considered because both are in talks with syndicator Buena Vista to have their own talk shows. ABC and Buena Vista are owned by Disney and often have a synergistic relationship. ....

"Star's job was on the line before Meredith told people she was leaving," another insider said. "ABC brass and Barbara Walters were fed up with her and her freebie-loving ways - and the embarrassment she has caused the show and the station. But now that Meredith is going, they don't want to shake things up too much." ....

2. Darn. I hoped she would quietly fade into nothingness after
Raymond was over. It might be worth it if they got rid of Ms. Hasslehoffleblabberbockle, though.

3. Well, that's easily avoided
I watch The View as often as I watch Today - like, never. Very rarely watch CBS News, for that matter.

I am happy that Albertsons, for whom Heaton shills, is selling its Chicago chain to another company. Maybe I'll never have to see that wingnut's face again. :) Well, until they run her for Congress...:(

4. Let em do it, Joy's a liberal
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 10:09 AM by melissinha
If we fall into this labeling the otherside thing, we are doing exactly what they do. So what? Heaton is a Republican, I think she's foolish to support Dubya, but if the View wants to feature her so be it.... Looks like Joy Behar is one of us... let them get into it...

Behar provides a point of view from the left side of the political aisle. Behar is in favor of stem-cell research and same-sex marriage. She has expressed her opposition to the war in Iraq and her dislike of Medicare's coverage of Viagra prescriptions.

So let em pit Patricia against Joy.... Its not like I watch anyway.

8. Well, we need to do a couple of things they do so we can WIN
Because our noble candidates accomplish ZILCH by losing. And, guess what, there really isn't a "higher" or "lower" form of human nature---we're all a mix of base and pure matter.

5. Well, I never really liked that show to begin with...
So should it fall by the wayside with the presence of more irrelevent actor-turned-talkshow types, I won't be dissappointed.

12. Barbara Walters is in charge on this one. I'm confident she'll make

the best decision for her show "The View." I worked around the corner from Barbara Walters at NBC; she was on the "Today" show, I worked for the director of the "Tonight" show.

I'd bet my small purse (containing about $15.00 after I went to two yard sales today) that Barbara Walters, born Jewish, married to a Jewish guy (Lee Gruber) until they divorced -- is a liberal woman. She'll balance the act. Trust her.

In peace,

Radio_Lady

PS. Any guesses what toward which party Meredith Vieria tilts? She's of Portuguese descent, married to a Cohen (probably another Jew). I don't even know what religion she practices or whether she is left-wing or right-wing.

13. "vieira" is Portugese - don't know about the Jewishness, but
her claim to fame was that she was on 60 Minutes and she quit because those a-hole-old-white-men wouldn't let her nurse on the set. So it's odd that Katie is getting the big play. Meredith has old cred and might have been a choice for CBS. Oh well, whatever.

14. I am assuming that Richard Cohen is a Jew. I may be wrong.
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 09:31 PM by Radio_Lady
Cohen is a very common Jewish surname.

I agree that Meredith Vieria would have also been a good anchor for CBS. She didn't have the affiliations that Katie Couric does nor the name recognition. She is also older, for the good and bad of it. And nobody has called her "perky" all that recently.

Here is a link to her official biography from ABC. Impressive!

http://abc.go.com/theview/hosts/vieira.html

Several other "also-rans" come to mind, including Lester Holt, Aaron Brown, Ann Curry, Campbell Brown, John Roberts, David Gregory, Stone Philips, and many other male and female anchors around the country. Each has his/her own pluses and minuses.

I don't recall the details of Meredith Vieria's problems at "60 Minutes" -- but I do recall the brouhaha over her leaving or being fired. It was ugly.

I wish both of these women much success. Katie Couric is a widow with two daughters to support, and she is apparently helping her young nephew, the son of her deceased older sister. Meredith Vieria has several children and a husband who has developed multiple sclerosis.

I believe both of these women need to work and want to work. They are qualified, and are ready, willing and able to take up these challenges. More power to them.

In peace,

Radio_Lady

19. Page Six is the most unreliable bullshit
They get NOTHING right. In fact, there are sites dedicated to writing about the errors of that sleazy Murdoch-owned gossip page.

Heaton won't be on The View.
