Wreckless. Arrogant. Power-Hungry. Dishonest.
No matter the question, these are the four words Democratic talking heads, leaders and elected officials need to be using in the debate about Bush’s role in the declassification of NIE information.

If you see Democratic talking heads and elected officials using them repeatedly in reference to Bush’s role in the Plame situation, then you know they’ve gotten their act together, at least with regard to this story.

On the other hand, if you see them getting pulled into ridiculous, distracting, “unsexy” minutiae about whether the declassification was legal or illegal, you know the Repubs are winning the war of message.

This, by the way, is how we should ALL be talking about this, should the occassion arise.

PS Hypocrisy is somewhere in the middle, as I think it’s a good emotion word, but it doesn’t play as strongly to American distrust and suspicion of government.

2. it's a tricky balancing act
I would agree that those words - particularly reckless and arrogant - are key terms, but we also need to explain simply and concisely what the Bushies did wrong. We don't need to get lost in the minutea - that's where the Republicans want to go - rather we need to cut through this.
