Creativity and fun at school in the time of NCLB

I've seen a few teachers out there teaching to tests, repeating standardized practice tests, and filling the day with drills and repetition. Thats good to an extent, but my 6th grade daughter, a good student who gets mostly As and Bs really hates school now - She goes through one or two books a week just zoning out between rigid practice tests and computer evaluations.

Blah!

1. Seems that schools have become giant test-prep centers - they should be
honest and just hang a big Stanley Kaplan Center sign over the front door of all of 'em. :-)

Is there any way you could homeschool? - it can be a really good way to get back the love of learning that your daughter once had. It's such a shame to see that curiosity and love of learning squashed out. But it happens so very frequently in schools.
