No kidding. The problem with too many people in these situations is that they don't take on the people who are doing this. This "lampooner" may be...probably is...an operative of the Republican Party, like the people who protested the 2000 vote.

By punching him out and whaling on him, you might be arrested...but you can sue him for his assault, and thereby reveal his identity, and the nature of Republican politics. I.E., thuggery.

And yes, it's stupid that the Democratic Party doesn't have its own professional cameramen at Democratic events (which I've mentioned elsewhere) but if there are amateur cameramen there, swing your camera away from Dean or whoever is there and tape the face of the Republican "lampooner." Take it to a local news department as "action footage" but save the footage (they'll dub your tape onto their own system). Then put the stills of the assault person here, and hopefully someone will be able to identify the exact Republican operative.
