7. Getting his "buddies" to lower prices is probably beyond W's control

that's Cheney's realm and I doubt W has any influence. Long term gas prices were apparently set at $3.00+ at Cheney's super-secret energy task force meetings. Is the fix in on gas prices? Of course it is. Why else would all the CEO's of oil companies sit before congress, unsworn, and give answers to the effect of "Ummm.... I dunno." To which the GOP congress responded, "Thank you for that answer and thank you for your candor." And, the SCOTUS said, "No, you can't see Cheney's task force meeting notes."

Long term gas prices at $3.00+ were set quite some time ago. The fix was in.
