The difference between Republicans and Democrats
I don't post much, usually just lurk and am not sure if this should go in the lounge but here goes:

My husband and I were discussing the difference between republicans and democrats last night and basically the main difference between us is honesty and trust. Republicans are alone. They can't trust each other. For example, look at Libby. He was in that inner group. He gets indicted. He rats out everybody else to save his skin. Then the people he implicates turn their backs on him. They only care about themselves in the long run.

Democrats on the other hand sometimes disagree with each other. But we don't eat our own. We disguss, and most of the time if we can't come to an agreement then we agree to disagree. We work together for the betterment of the country. We are not alone. We are a team.

I am so glad I am not a republican. I hate being alone. I love it here at DU. We are together, united, and we work together for the betterment of each other.

1. nah, this is a good spot for it
and it's a good breakdown, Dems are all about the community and the greatest good, Repubs are about what's in it for me?

2. Republican v. Democrat Blogs
From Burtworm:

Left wing blog action against Kaloogian:

Precipitated by: left-wing blogger noting that a photo on Kaloogian's campaign website purported to be something it didn't seem to be--to whit: a serene street scene from Baghdad

Action: Other left-wingers rising to the challenge to ID the actual scene.

Result: phony photo is uncovered; truth is served.

Right wing blog action against Pianka:

Precipitated by: a remark Pianka made about the dangers of overpopulation, taken out of context and misrepresented by a right-winger with an ax to grind and disseminated by Drudge.

Action: harassment and death threats against Pianka and other members of the Texas Academy of the Sciences

Result: chaos

3. In my view republican mindset is......................
this is as good as it gets, and everyone is trying to take what little I have, and they don't work as hard as me, and therefore I have to hold on to any little thing someone is going to do to help me keep what I have. Pure darwinism and I laugh at the scandals catching up with the dirtballs now. The basic philosophy that makes them republicans also causes them to act like pigs at the trough when they have some power. I've got to get all I can now because it's only going to get worse.
The liberal mindset, to me, seems to be one of optimism, where thing are going to get better and by assisting those less fortunate, I will be lifting myself up. The world can be a better place and given the chance, human nature will prevail toward the good.
