Re: Bush Leak: "This isn't Clinton we're talking about."
"This isn't Clinton we're talking about. This isn't about lying under oath. President Bush broke no law." - Heard on Mike Gallagher's radio show this afternoon.

We're in the spin cycle. The hacks are actually comparing leaking classified information to LYING ABOUT A BLOWJOB. And worse, they are framing it as if lying about the blowjob is THE MORE SEVERE OF THE TWO.

The argument being made is that the President or Vice President are authorized to de-classify any information they see fit. I am not completely sure, but I think this is false (please clarify).

2. Someone on Ed Schultz made a good point
Even if it's true, which I don't believe, that Bush has the right to declassify whatever he wants, and therefore his leak was legal, even so the fact remains that he lied.

Blowjobs are legal too. What they got Clinton on was lying about it.

4. Actually, this IS about lying under oath.
The most sacred oath he could take:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

And what could be more severe than that?

9. The President can't declassify whatever he wants.
That's a bullshit argument. If that argument were true, the President would be within his power to declassify every sensitive piece of information we have. That'd mean it's legal for the President to purposefully out every CIA agent on the planet.

10. Yeah, a government employee who is doing a good job, and has
sex in his personal time, is a terrible thing.

But completely exposing and compromising a deep-cover CIA program, in place for years, to detect terrorist nuclear acquisition is no big deal!!! :wtf:

I say again! :wtf:

There is something wrong with anyone who supports this corrupt regime any longer.

The ultra-rich spend a lot on propaganda, because it works. The "liberal" media spin should be very interesting.

It will be strong Bush defense in the media.

The Bush family empire is too powerful to let even the have-mores jettison Junior.

The corporate media will go into overdrive with pro-Junior propaganda and of course play right along when it's ....

TIME FOR A TERROR SCARE!!!

13. It would appear that Bush gave false and misleading statements...
...to the Congress in an official report. The State of the Union isn't just a campaign speech. Article 2, Section 3. If there was ever a requirement to give honest testimony, this is it. But Bush gave those 16 words! They want claim lying under oath is the standard? Well, Bushco got that covered too.

Rating the crimes, from least to worst:
-giving false or misleading testimony in a civil case (here's where the bar was set in 1998)
-giving false or misleading testimony in a criminal case
-giving false or misleading testimony in an official presidential capacity
-giving false or misleading testimony in an official presidential capacity THAT LED US TO WAR! (here's Bushco)

and replayed. Bush's "We'll take appropriate action on the leaker" is deception on the American public as well. Not illegal, but deception.

Should the corporate media give equal time to the Chimperor's Sept. 30, '03 "I don't have a clue who the leaker is" moment, then
Chimpy will never "spin" his numbers out of their downward spiral.

Which Bush and Cheney are both clearly guilty of. They both lied to the investigator, period. End of story. No spin possible.

Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 12:26 AM by Independent_Liberal
I'm convinced the only thing Republicans care about is ruling us all. "Yeah, we own you. We are the law. Do as we say. You can't have blowjobs."

Republicans are the main ingredient that's causing fascism in this country. They're no better than the Nazis in Germany or the Klu Klux Klan. Wouldn't you agree?
