This year, we need to run against REPUBLICANS, not just Bush
One thing that you notice the VRWC and its denizens do, is that they don't just attack "the candidate," they attack liberalism as an idelogy and the Democrats as a party. In 2004, we attacked Bush more than we did the cogs in the machine, while the right-wing blowhards spent as much time attacking Michael Moore or MoveOn or some random athiest or college professor than they did Kerry. We need to attack the right from every turn and attack every blowhard. Attack James Dobson and Rendell Terry as much as you attack Bush. Make the voters aware of Tom DeLay, Scooter Libby, Duke Cunningham, and Rick Santorum. We also need to repeat "the Republicans control Congress" over and over again. You know why? Because often the public doesn't even know who controls Congress! In 2002, when we lost the Senate, 72% of the public thought that we controlled the House.

1. We have to call out the Republicans who rubber-stamped Bush.
There's plenty of value still to be had from reminding people that Bush is the worst president ever, and he had lots of enablers.

3. agreed. Their neocon and conservative views
must be attacked, the best thing to do is expose their crap for the excrement it is.. Politics is a full contact sport, and the dems have been playing touch for the last 20 years.

15. Wasn't it Rove that said when people are educated they vote
for Democrats, and people who have money vote for republicans? No wonder repugs want to kill public education.

4. Agreed, but ironically
One of the best ways to do this will be to rhetorically tie each and every Republican to Bush. Without their enabling, all these crimes might have been prevented. They've spent five years rallying around their little tinplate Commander-in-Chief. They shouldn't be allowed to try and distance themselves from him now.

5. I agree, they have become totally out of control
Their campaign against "liberalism" (normal people, IMO) is so pervasive I am aware of it most of the time. They must be put in their place which is , I believe, far less than half of the population.

6. Repeat "Republican Dominations of Congress"...
Remind people of their dirty tricks and absolute fascist/dictatorial oppression in Congress; they didn't just control it, they excluded nearly half of all Congressmen from participation.

Sure would help if we had our own media access though; it would even be helpful if we could demonstrate the truth of the Republican Media Control (much stronger word than 'bias') while showing the "Liberal Media Bias" to be the myth that it is.

14. The repubs will only pretend to be for it too. They are "enablers"
and need to be labeled as such.

16. No they won't. They'll just spew those tired old talking points
about denial of choice, "rationing", and "government can't do anything right, don't trust 'em with healthcare." (The last reason being rich because the reason our government has been ineffective is because those clowns are running it.)

But this gets to what the heart of the OP's message. We've got to defend the liberal basis for a single-payer plan by aggressively attacking the warped ideology of the Right.

Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 07:39 PM by Kahuna
call the republicans "enablers." Only then will the dense American sheeple understand that a vote for any republican is a vote for bush/cheney and more of the same.
