I haven't seen one of those, well since the election come to think of it!

The whole immigration thing might not be good to bank on, the protests won't be too good for image. Whats left, terror alerts? They gotta get the leak thing under control.

1. Those "terra-lerts" are a farce
and most people are fully aware of that. If those fleabags get desperate enough, there might be another 9-11 style attack somewhere, though. That's what worries me. :(

2. The weather has become too warm to wear a terra lert colored
scarf. That's winter terra only.

Maybe we'll just have to buy duct tape.

5. Sure wont.
Though it will be funny to see it, then you'll know that Bush has lost, using that ol' signal to get people back on his side.

6. I don't think they will risk another (MIHOP/LIHOP) terra attack
My reasoning-

1. We are about 8-10 weeks away from the next hurricane season. Although the White House is trying to control NOAA's briefings and predictions - it's safe to bet that 3-5 level 3-4-5 hurricanes will hit the Continental US.
Unless the whole "team" is primed and ready to go - that's FEMA, the National Guard, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and local Citizens Corps affiliates - it will be a repeat of 2005. With the same "egg on their face for DHS and Bush.

2. The "word on the street" is the while the experienced volunteers and Guardsmen are "ready" - the logistics for the Red Cross and Salvation Army still has many of the same holes, the National Guard has not be re-provisioned, and the donors have "donor fatigue" -- and new volunteers are not showing up beyond the "protect your own family and neighborhood" level of training.
We saw this in our last two Citizens Corps drills. At its lowest level - the volunteers in the cul de sacs and city blocks - it is not happening.

3. A major screw up within 4-8 weeks of the election will doom the GOP.

7. I feel a pandemic threat coming on
but clearly, team bush would favor the fortuitious appearance of a new or old demon to rally the public behind them

12. First of all we're too clean
We no longer live in 18th Century London where you had sewage flowing down the gutters.

Plus, it's only been the last 100 years or so that we even began to under germs and how disease is spread. All this makes pandemics much less likely. Just look at the tsunami, Katrina and the Pakistan earhquake. Even under the worst circumstances we had no major outbreaks of disease. Amazing. It makes a big difference when you understand the science behind something and how it works.

9. A guy who knows another guy that has this friend whose cousin used to
know this other guy that used to know someone in Al-Queda and he said there might be a sneak attack on Piscataway, NJ with Killer Bees or something.

Bingo! Orange Alert! Cue continuous CNN coverage. Cue Faux talking about how great Bush is.

14. Cue the collective yawn from the public...
last attempt "big sporting events..." didn't dampen travel across the country for the NCAA tourneyment.

This 'weapon' for bushco PR has finally become completely useless.

13. They tried it a few weeks ago... sporting events...
fear! fear! fear! Just happened to be NCAA tourney time!

Big basketball area here... completely ignored it... even though the finals were held here.

The alerts, for the most part, have absolutely NO effect anymore.
