question abt Harry Taylor + Rockwell picture
in Rockwell's painting we only see men and in web photo the prople around Taylor are women...do I see this right? if so, does this say anything meaningful about changes in US society?

also, men seem interested and wanting to hear more....some of the women appear horrified....if this is correct, does this say anything meaningful about the US??

2. It says that times are different, but values are continual.
This isn't about audiences. Taylor's were brainwashed Bushbots; Rockwell painted in a different era, although even then he could have put a black or female face in the painting. Whatever. The power of the image: An American standing up and speaking his/her mind to power - that's what this was about. Bush's Handlers will be fired. Harry's resemblance to the painting, "Freedom of Speech," was serendipity.

5. yes, but Rockwell was also painting
during a time when women were regularly excused from jury duty simply for being female. I think it does say something -- something good -- about societal changes.

4. That woman next to Taylor was mouthing "whacko" over and over
I didn't realize that until I saw it on a large screen this afternoon.

10. That was after he had spoken.
The 0 shape her mouth was making in the pick was when she was mouthing "whacko".

I can read lips and that one was easy.

12. Very possible that you are correct...
I really didn't pay any attention to her until she started flailing around in the middle of his statement. How rude. :eyes:

7. Take a look at ..

http://www.normanrockwell.com/artwork/gallery_last.htm

The bottom row picture that is second from the right. The black girl w/man wearing armbands. I don't know much about this picture, but it's one I've never forgotten. It might be about desegregation.

8. maybe it means
that bush's crowd was vetted for the "mindless faithful" and in Rockwell we see people still willing to listen!
