"...evidence that disproved accusations from Joseph Wilson and others..."
This from the weekly standard about the bush/cheney/libby leak:

"Last week, news from the prosecution of Scooter Libby put the debate over the justification for the Iraq war back on the front pages. The president, through Vice President Dick Cheney, apparently authorized Libby to share with reporters key judgments of the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq--evidence that disproved accusations from Joseph Wilson and others that Bush had manipulated or distorted the judgments of the intelligence community."

What evidence that disproved accusations from Joseph Wilson? What did the leak contain that disproved Wilsons claims? What is Kristol talking about?

Now I know the best use for a copy of the neocon weekly standard is as a covering for the floor of my dogs kennel, but in this piece he calmly puts out there that this "evidence" leaked by libby did something to counteract what Wilson was saying. What?

Is he referring to Wilson's wife? I just don't get how that disproves what Wilson was saying.

1. Welcome to DU, casual hex!
And I recommend this post, for getting to the very heart of the matter.

This leak did not serve the public by correcting false information being promulgated. To the contrary, it was about suppressing information to the public so that a truly informed decision would not be made.

it will give you an idea what is contained in the NIE - also it gives some clues as to answer your question above.

Answer: your article is only telling one side of the NIE - it's the INR which ended up being a footnote of the NIE is really where it's at read links provided in thread above - you'll see
