I used to sell rare books. And I see things differently.
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 02:01 AM by Tom Yossarian Joad
I once sold a copy of Through the Looking Glass (Alice in Wonderland) signed by Alice Hargreaves (Alice Liddell) a few years before her death.

John Tenniel's gift to us all.

As well as the Reverend Dodgson's (Lewis Carroll). I don't know who's rendition I appreciate more.

Alice came to the United States on a Cruise ship in the 1920's and signed a shitload of LEC books. She died shortly aftarwards. It brought reality to a once held fantasy.

Alice became real. So did Peter of Kensington Gardens (Should an Alabama Redneck be talking of such things?).

Much like the political clime of today, I remember Kennedy. I lived when he lived. Eisenhower, Truman, Roosevelt... All were recent memory when I was young. My father bragged of an Adlai Stephenson autograph that he still holds today.

The changes?

Gargantuan.

Johnson maintained. Until the pressures became too large. Then he bailed.

Until today, I just thought he wanted to retire. Today, I feel he didn't want to sell out.

Nixon had sold out even if he didn't know it. Spiro resigned, Nixon did as well when the axe began to swing.

Ford was a hiccup who wanted to get the hell out like Johnson. (Too much shit still in the air after Kennedy had been killed).

Carter was an Honest man. Gas prices went up, but he didn't start or Join a war. That was nice.

Reagan was elected. He started a war. South America became hell. But he got the hostages out of Iran. That is where the phrase "November Surprise" comes from.

George the First was elected. Panama saw civilian death that was never reported by MSM. He attacked Iraq and destroyed their infrastructure then imposed sanctions that would last for a decade.

Bill Clinton was Elected. He went to Bosnia and then got a blow job.

George the Second stole an election, saw the first attack on american soil by the Saudi's and attacked Afghanistan followed by Iraq.

It's all stranger than fiction, these steps that took us to where we are today. Stranger than fiction.

Remember Alice? The Cheshire Cat? The Hookah?

We are being ruled by the Queen of hearts today and we dined at the Mad Hatter's. She can scream "off with their heads!" at any moment and we would all be in dire straits. I se America today being chased by Tenniel's cards in copperplate black and white. There's no hope except Deus ex mechana.

Machine of the gods.

That's the only hope we have.

I still long to have a copy of that book. If even only to have a remnant of a past far gone.

(If you want it, here's a good copy). http://cgi.choosebooks.com/SESSz30711829611144477933/cgi-bin/n_showitem.cgi?item=&mono=ux3344_22072&lang=en&lo=gr2&uc=us&shp=0&dcurr=USD

(Thanks for reading a rambling here)

3. October Surprise.
And Reagan was able to get the hostages out exactly then because he'd made a deal to keep them imprisoned, and Carter looking ineffectual, until he could do that very thing.

5. The Deus Ex Machinas are not on our side, but rather are 'counting'
all our votes with 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code--code so secret not even our secretaries of state are permitted to review it--with virtually no audit/recount controls, while their CEO's and funders are major Bush donors and campaign chairs and major contributors to rightwing extremist 'christian' causes--a Wonderlandish election system brought to you by the two biggest crooks in Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney, with their "Hack America's Vote Act." This $4 Billion electronic voting boondoggle was designed to corrupt and destroy the U.S. election system, during the 2002-2004 period, which it very handily did.

The Remedy:

1. Read and understand "Alice in Wonderland."

2. Throw Diebold, ES&S and all election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW.

8. "SAW the first attack on american soil" is being way too generous . . .
the vast majority of available evidence strongly suggests that BushCo's involvement with 9/11 was as more than passive observers . . .
