Never fails to please...he interrupts a correspondent really rudely, who we can hear just fine, to tell him that he can't hear him. Perhaps Tony's listening to the voices in his head...

He is frighteningly stupid...talking about how we build 'stuff' and it is no match for the force of nature. What a philosopher! What insight!

1. The Entire Network Is Putrid

Originally I thought he was a wingnut...then over time I realized this guy is dumber than a box of rocks. But I'll bet he takes orders from the Producers just fine.

There's a bunch of these stenographers and newsreaders who feel they have to put some "personality" in the story and make themselves look to be fools. Somehow they have some "magic bullet" question that usually turns out to be inane and ignorant. Another one like that is Kyra Phillips...who can't keep her hots for anything that wears a military uniform and supposes that every viewer is a church-goer.

Whatever happened to real newsreaders who actually just read the news???

I really think that she had the big O one day when this Lt. Col. was talking to her early in the Iraq debacle. She was shuddering and her color changed. No kidding.

Guess that's why they covered the area under the anchor desk. Remember years ago when they tried that sit-on-a-stool approach?

3. Why waste time with CNN? It's better to start a boycott!

If I want to watch liars, I can go to 19th Century Fox. Why go to any other Fox wannabees?

We have the power to shut down CNN. It's time to boycott anything that advertises on it!

Same for the liars at the Screw York TImes, Whoreshington Post, Chicago Fibune and Lies Angeles Times. Don't buy them.

6. Been There, Done That

A year ago, many here on DU were ready to take pitchforks to CNN Center...doing a mass email and phone campaign. As you can see, it did a lot of good.

Good luck on a boycott in the time where corporations are so nebulus that the concept is all but impossible. Can you boycott a company that is one of the few that makes diapers for your child or the medicine you need? Plus, CNN gets a cable fee even if a person doesn't watch it, just like you pay for religious channels and Faux news (a reason for the passage of the ala-carte cable bill).

The power we have is right here...it's to reach out and communicate among ourselves and try to find some common ground. That's difficult at best around this place.

The corporate media is heading for a collapse under their own largess...thus the product will continue to get worse as it "consolidates" and cheapens up.

The deal here is not to patronize these networks. I always make note of the companies that advertise and will avoid purchasing their products more under the pretense of how much money they've wasted on advertising as opposed to where they advertise. It's keeping an eye on these outlets that millions do watch. Time is approaching when they will be held accountable for their enabling of this regime and right now the best thing to do is to chronicle those who have assisted this regime in their lies and deceptions. For that CNN is a treasure trove.

8. It will never happen, but the only way to be effective would be a

national boycott of cable service until they provide packages without objectionable "news" services.

If the cable owners were faced with mass cancellations over their carrying (and charging for) CNN, Fox, etc., changes would be made.

If progressives joined together and were willing to do without their movies and sports for six months or so, all the while making clear their objection to packages which force them to pay for CNN, Fox News, and other right-wing programs, they could bring the system down.

Otherwise, as long as people are willing to pay, nothing will change.

9. Ala Carte Cable Bill

It's sitting in the House right now...it would force your local cable company only to sell you the channel you wanted. Of course the corporate media is fighting it...and another issue the Democrats could pick up on this fall.

I really can't think of a consumer boycott in this country that has any effect. First, getting people organized and to participate is like herding cats. And targeting a media network is double tough as the viewer doesn't directly pay the broadcaster, you have to boycott dozens of advertisers. Also, these large conglomerates can well afford a loss-leader. A boycott would have to bite deep and long before it'd have any affect on the corporation. The best one can try to do is scare the corporation or its stock holders and play with the stock price, but this isn't a boycott.

There's other companies far more deserving of being boycotted...Salem Media and Sinclair Broadcasting...in specific...companies that are mouthpieces of the Repugnican party.

4. I have a hard time watching the Wolf Blitzer network during the week,

never mind bothering with the weekend crew. I never put them on. I'm beginning to think that all the media have a "we'll show them" attitude at this point. They were all gung ho with Bush and his war and for years never could criticize the guy. Now, that all proof shows that this is a corrupt and immoral administration they still won't get on board with the critics of the war. The media will be asked to shut the door on the way out as they are the last to leave this corrupt administration. And it galls me how complicit they all have been.
