Impeachment debated in Illinois
WASHINGTON — Whether Congress should consider impeaching President Bush over the Iraq war has left Illinois' congressional delegation a house divided, with Democrats disagreeing among themselves over the idea and Republicans blasting it.

Rep. Rahm Emanuel, a former adviser in the Clinton White House and now a Chicago lawmaker who heads the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said Friday he was strongly opposed to suggestions Congress should consider removing Bush from office.

"I'm against impeachment. I believe our job is to go forward and work on issues," he said, naming pensions, job security and health care. "I believe we should govern on the issues, like we talked about in the last campaign."

By contrast, two of the state's most liberal House members, Democratic Reps. Jan Schakowsky and Danny Davis, are among more than 30 co-sponsors of a House resolution calling on Congress to determine whether there are grounds for impeachment.

1. It looks like it is time for the people of Illinois to pick up the phone.
Let him know how you feel.

I used to live in Chicago and voted for him and am sorry to see he feels this way.

2. Urk...
'I believe we should govern on the issues...?' How about a completely ineffectual administration that has lied, cheated and stole with reckless abandon for nearly 6 years? Does that count as an issue??? Do your F###ING JOB, Emanuel!!!

5. He's DLC. This is what they do.
They undermine Democratic principles every chance they get. Here's the DLC member list. Watch who does what in Congress and then take a look at this list. If a Senator or Congress person vote against/speak out against what LIBERALS want, most of the time they're on this list. JMCPO...of course.

7. Let's Get A House Majority First
There's plenty of pickings here...435 different issues to be used. The Repugnicans want the Democrats to make this an election strictly on boooosh and to hope the NIMBY factor (it's every one elses representative that's a crook not mine) that will keep them in power in November.

Even with a Democratic majority next year, impeachment would be a tough animal to handle...since it will take months to hold investigations (along with the guaranteed boooosh stonewalling) and by the time any action can be taken, it'll fall right into the 2008 campaign. All along the Repugnicans will use it to energize their base and make it appear as Democrats are being spiteful...further dividing this country and make it even tougher to get anything accomplished.

Look at how rabbid Tweety gets when he asks virtually any Democrat now "if you win the House this fall are you going after Repugnicans?" That's a Rovian warning call to those who might hate booosh or might think of staying home this fall think twice as their fear and ignorance buttons are pushed once again.

I'm no Emanuel fan, but a proper perspective has to be looked at here. To have any voice and power, the Democrats have to win back the House this fall. They can't win it by default...cause a win on weakness opens the door for the Repugnicans to come storming back in 2008. Making the fall election into a referendum on Booosh...which is what an impeachment call would signal to many...is not the winner. It's all the things boosh has done that is...along with tying each Repugnican congresscritter to each and every disaster...from medicare to Iraq to immigration to Abramoff and beyond.

Honestly, impeachment is too good for these criminals. A tribunal in The Hague is more in what I think is fitting.
